The Huron Insights Platform team is looking to hire a Data Engineer who is experienced in developing new features and improvements for data-driven web applications and working with common AWS web application services.
The Insights Platform is a suite of healthcare analytics products focused on revenue cycle, supply chain, pharmacy and other healthcare capabilities. As the platform grows to deliver more insights, new APIs, server-side processes, and services will need to be designed, developed, deployed, and maintained to deliver those insights to our clients. The software engineer will be working daily with product leadership, other software engineers, and data engineers on the team to help support and drive that growth.

Position Summary:  
The Data Engineer is knowledgeable and experienced with web application architecture, processes, design, development, and management. 
As a member of the Insights team, the Data Engineer will be working with the engineering and product teams to add new features and improve existing functionality to our healthcare analytics web applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and providing level of effort estimates for changes to the Insights applications.

  • Developing high quality modifications to the application source code, processes, and architecture.

  • Delivering fully tested code prior to prod-deployment when appropriate.

  • Troubleshooting bugs and issues in the application.

  • Coordinating with other engineers to ensure comprehensive changes to the platform meet business needs.

  • Recommending and implementing enhancements that streamline processes and improve platform performance, availability, or functionality.

  • Assisting in the creation of project plans and capability roadmaps to ensure development of technical solutions are adequately structured and represented.

  • Maintaining updated documentation of system and solution designs.

  • Providing applicable training to various internal functional SMEs and stakeholders.

  • Additional duties as assigned to ensure company success.

QUALIFICATIONS:  

Required:

  • U.S. work authorization is required.

  • A technical (math, engineering, computer science) B.S. degree or equivalent work experience.

  • Strong computer science fundamentals.

  • 3-5 years of professional software engineering experience.

  • 3-5 years of professional Python and SQL experience.

  • 3-5 years of professional experience with Amazon Web Services, especially, Redshift, CloudFront, API Gateway/Lambda, ECS, Application Load Balancer, EC2, S3, VPC, etc.

    • Experience with Boto3 and AWS CLI

  • 3-5 years of professional experience with UNIX based operating systems (Linux, Ubuntu, etc.).

  • At least 3 year of professional experience with common web server technologies (Apache, Nginx, etc.).

  • Understanding of iterative software development methodology (e.g., Agile).

  • Understanding of core internet protocols (UDP/TCP, HTTP(S), TLS, etc.).

  • Experience working with VCS (Git, Subversion, etc.).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Motivated, self-starter with ability to learn quickly.

  • Ability to work within a highly driven and multi-discipline engineering and product team.

  • Open to potential travel up to 10% on an annual basis.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with PostgreSQL.

  • Experience working with Data Build Tool (DBT)

  • Experience working with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., CloudFormation).

  • Experience working with Git.

  • Experience working with Analytics driven applications.

  • Experience with Healthcare Data

    • EDI/FHIR standards.

  • This position can be Full-Time Remote.

The estimated base salary range for this job is $80,000 - $120,000.  The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that Huron reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel. This job is also eligible to participate in Huron’s annual incentive compensation program, which reflects Huron’s pay for performance philosophy.  Inclusive of annual incentive compensation opportunity, the total estimated compensation range for this job is $89,600 - $141,600. The job is also eligible to participate in Huron’s benefit plans which include medical, dental and vision coverage and other wellness programs. The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future.
