The Role

Since its inception in 1992, SUSE has been at the forefront of technical innovation where change has been the only constant.

 

The primary responsibility of this position is to empower customers to run their business applications on SUSE solutions in the cloud, as well as growing and maintaining business critical partnerships with independent vendors.

This will support business growth in line with our ambitious objectives and company culture. 

Critical to achieving excellent results will be publishing new listings to Cloud Service Provider marketplaces, developing and maintaining publishing services as well as customer facing information portals. 

The role sits within the Central Engineering Services function, reporting to the Senior Manager of Systems Engineering, who is U.S. based.


 

Focus Areas 

  • Collaborate with other engineers and architects to ensure that supported upstream community projects are deployable and run efficiently on SUSE supported platforms

  • Curate and publish SUSE product offerings on CSP marketplaces

  • Develop and maintain internal and customer facing products and services

  • Participate in technical design and code review processes

  • Contribute to existing documentation and/or educational content based on product requirements and user feedback 

  • Contribute to maintaining a positive, healthy and inclusive learning culture

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Experience developing applications using one or more general programming languages (e.g. Python, Go) utilizing git-based source control management tools

  • Experience using services from one or more of the “Big 3” Cloud Service providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)

  • Familiarity with virtualization concepts, and experience with cloud compute and/or local VM tools

  • Familiarity with cloud native concepts and container technology

  • Experience developing software using Linux-based operating systems (e.g. openSUSE) 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (required)

Bonus Points

  • Frontend (UI) development experience

  • Experience with Helm charts or similar package management tools for K8s

  • Familiarity with packaging rpms

  • Experience working with and contributing to open-source communities

  • The ideal candidate will be passionate about learning new skills and new technologies

  • Good communicator who is interested in collaborating in a team environment

  • Able to work effectively as part of a fully remote team

  • At least two years of experience developing software.
