Job Location: Open to US Remote Candidates

Job Summary: 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Steward to join our team and play a key role in managing and maintaining the quality and accuracy of our retail data. The Senior Data Steward will be responsible for automating, simplifying, documenting, and streamlining various data-related tasks to ensure that our data is consistent, reliable, and readily available for decision-making processes. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and expertise in data management within the retail sector.


Job Responsibilities: 

  • Data Automation: Develop and implement automated solutions to streamline data processes, including data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL), enabling real-time access and analysis.
  • Data Simplification: Analyze complex data structures and business processes to identify opportunities for simplification and standardization, improving data accuracy, and enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Data Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of data dictionaries, data mappings, data lineage, and data governance policies to ensure transparency, promote data understanding, and facilitate effective communication.
  • Data Quality: Establish and enforce data quality standards, perform data profiling and data cleansing activities, conduct root cause analysis and implement appropriate remediation strategies to continuously improve data quality.
  • Data Streamlining: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data integration and consolidation initiatives, harmonize data elements, and optimize data flows across various systems and platforms to eliminate redundancies.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with business users, data owners, and data custodians to understand their requirements, address data-related issues, provide guidance on data management best practices, and foster a culture of data-driven decision making.
  • Data Governance: Contribute to the development and adherence of data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, availability, and reliability of retail data throughout its lifecycle.
  • Data Analysis and Audits: Perform in-depth data analysis, generate audit reports, and provide insights to evaluate data quality trends, identify areas for improvement, and support business initiatives.


Job Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Management, Information Systems, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., CDMP, CIMP) are a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in data stewardship, data management, or a related field, with a focus on retail data.
  • Proficiency in data management tools such as SQL, ETL frameworks, data integration platforms, and data quality tools.
  • Strong understanding of retail data structures, including point-of-sale (POS), inventory, customer, and product hierarchies.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks, data privacy regulations, and best practices for data quality assurance.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills, with a keen eye for identifying data inconsistencies and anomalies.
  • Proven track record of successfully automating data management tasks and improving data quality within complex retail environments.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and present complex data-related concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Canddiate will be required to complete and pass a background check screening upon offer of employment.

Work Environment:

Must be able to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in written form to express and exchange ideas. While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee must be able to access all components of workstation and other office equipment. Frequent typing, writing, bending, and twisting. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.

General office environment with moderate noise. This position is mostly sedentary, involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. A busy environment with many unscheduled interruptions. Frequent computer use at workstation for extended periods of time. Public contact position requiring appropriate business apparel.
