CONTROLLER (CPA or CFA Preferred)

Part Time Remote Position

We are currently seeking an experienced Controller with outstanding accounting skills, a strong commitment to supporting nonprofit organizations, eager to share knowledge while mentoring a team, and dedicated to delivering excellent customer service to clients.

Responsibilities of the Controller:

  • Comprehensive management of client relationships
  • Independent management of monthly and annual accounting engagements
  • Lead and mentor accountants who perform transactional work under your assigned client list
  • Comprehensive financial statement preparation, including analysis, interpretation and presentation to clients
  • Monthly and quarterly account reconciliations, including endowment and investment reconciliations
  • Tracking and reporting of restricted funds, including preparation of net asset roll forward
  • Grant management, including grantor reporting and special audit requirements
  • Audit preparation and management (to include single audits)
  • Documentation of policies and procedures for clients and for the delivery of Chazin services
  • Monitor and prepare budgets, including cash flow management and forecast modeling
  • Presentation of financial information to Boards and external parties as required
  • 990 and other local, state, and federal filings support preparation and management

Qualifications of the Controller:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • CPA or CFA license preferred
  • A minimum of seven years general accounting experience
  • A minimum of two years nonprofit accounting experience
  • A minimum of two years experience in all phases of audit preparation
  • Extensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Ability to provide leadership and function well in a team-oriented virtual environment
  • Excellent communication, project management, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Extensive experience with data management, recordkeeping, and web-based applications
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and QuickBooks Online
  • The desire and ability to become proficient with SAGE Intacct and other third-party applications
  • The ability to work from home professionally and independently

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $107,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and support opportunities for growth and advancement within our organization.
