About the position

The Senior Engineer role is focused on translating client and project requirements into scalable, reliable, ease of use microservices cloud-based applications. The role requires a deep understanding of modern architectures and agile delivery methodologies.

What will you be doing? 

• Collaborate directly with clients as a key member of their scrum teams to translate requirements into scalable, reliable cloud-based applications.
• Lead development efforts with a focus on Java (approx. 50%), React (approx. 35%), and Node.js (approx. 15%).
• Design, write, test, document, and deploy robust code using Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, and React/Next.js.
• Build reusable code, libraries, and backend APIs, optimizing for speed and scalability.
• Design and implement data storage solutions, using MySQL and Redis.
• Leverage your expertise in Docker, AWS, and Kubernetes (EKS) for containerization and cloud infrastructure management.
• Support and enhance Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., CircleCI).
• Participate actively in design and architecture discussions and agile sprint team ceremonies, understanding microservices principles.
• Contribute to the product vision and explore/propose new technologies.
• As the foundational member of our Mexico team, coach, mentor, and provide local support to future Metafora engineers.

What we need:

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency and hands-on experience in:
  • 5+ years of hands on experience with Java (17+), SpringBoot and Node.js.
  • 3+ years of hands on experience with React and Next.js.
  • 2+ years of hands on experience with Node.js.
• Proven experience with Docker, Kubernetes (specifically EKS), and AWS cloud services are essential.
• Experience with MySQL, Redis, Kafka, and CircleCI are preferred.
• Solid understanding of building and consuming REST APIs and microservices architecture.
• Proficient understanding of build and source control tools (e.g., Git).
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.
• Passion for mentoring and team leadership.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high degree of proficiency in English.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree.
