Job Role: Flooring Estimator

Full Time: Independent Contractor
Salary range:  $1500 - $1900

Who The Client Is: a digital platform and flooring store serving both retail and commercial flooring needs. They offer a wide variety of flooring options, including carpets, vinyl, laminate, hybrid, and timber flooring. They are also a digital hub for the flooring industry, connecting builders, installers, and suppliers with a range of tools and services.

Role Overview: In this role, you’ll ensure the success and profitability of flooring projects by delivering accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimates. Working across both residential and commercial sectors, you’ll analyze architectural plans and technical specifications to determine the materials, labor, and services required for a wide range of flooring types.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review architectural plans, project drawings, and specifications to prepare detailed estimates.
  • Quantify materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services required for flooring installations (including timber, vinyl, carpet, epoxy, etc.).
  • Create and submit cost estimates, proposals, and bid packages for both residential and commercial flooring projects.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to get up-to-date pricing on materials and services.
  • Participate in project handovers and support the operations team in budget adherence.
  • Monitor ongoing project costs and provide updates if pricing adjustments are needed.
  • Maintain and update estimating databases and proposal templates.
  • Support sales teams with technical inputs or value-engineering options during client presentations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years experience as an Estimator, ideally in the flooring, construction, or fit-out industries.
  • Must be highly proficient in using Measure Square
  • Strong knowledge of different flooring systems and installation processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and technical drawings.
  • Proficient in estimating software and MS Office Suite (Excel is a must).
  • Experience using takeoff software like PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple quotes simultaneously.
  • Understanding of local building codes and flooring standards is a plus.
