The Manager, Physician Compensation is responsible for implementing, managing, and enhancing physician compensation programs that align with Unified Women’s Healthcare's strategic, operational, and financial goals. This role ensures consistency, fairness, and compliance across multiple markets in a complex, multi-state environment. A key focus of the position includes building and standardizing compensation parameters and infrastructure while contributing to broader compensation initiatives when capacity allows.
Responsibilities
Physician Compensation Strategy and Design:
Set and maintain standardized parameters and operational guidance for physician compensation models across all Unified markets.
Develop and oversee physician compensation plans to ensure competitiveness, alignment with regulatory standards, and alignment with business goals.
Collaborate with senior leaders, finance, and legal to ensure compensation plans are financially viable and legally compliant, including Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Statute compliance.
Lead efforts to drive consistency and standardization of physician compensation plans, documentation, and administration across all geographies.
Compensation Tool Development & Testing:
Partner with internal stakeholders to support the design, configuration, and deployment of a scalable, enterprise-wide physician compensation tool.
Participate in system testing, validation, and user acceptance processes to ensure tool accuracy and usability.
Document requirements, test cases, and results to support implementation and ongoing optimization.
Audit and Oversight:
Conduct regular audits of physician compensation calculations prepared by internal teams to ensure accuracy and adherence to established standards.
Develop protocols for proactively identifying discrepancies, performing root-cause analyses, and implementing process improvements.
General Compensation Management:
Support the development and maintenance of broad-based compensation programs including base pay structures, incentive plans, and ad hoc adjustments.
Conduct and interpret benchmarking and market analysis to support compensation decisions across all roles.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication:
Act as a consultative partner to HR Business Partners, Finance, and Market Leaders on physician compensation topics.
Deliver training and clear documentation to internal teams and leadership on compensation policies, tools, and methodologies.
Present findings and recommendations to executive leadership and partner cross-functionally on organizational initiatives involving physician compensation.
Data and Analytics:
Build and maintain compensation dashboards and analytics to support transparency and strategic decision-making.
Leverage internal data and external benchmarks to guide ongoing improvements to compensation models.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or related certification strongly preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience in compensation management, with a strong emphasis on physician or healthcare compensation.
Demonstrated experience working in multi-state, complex organizational environments.
Knowledge of applicable regulatory frameworks including Stark and Anti-Kickback regulations.
Strong project management skills, including experience with system implementation and testing.
Advanced Excel skills and comfort with analytics, reporting, and audit tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to influence across levels.
