Job Description:
The State University of New York Student Conduct Institute (SCI) seeks an experienced Instructional Designer to support the use of technology to create high-quality online training courses. The SUNY Student Conduct Institute trains staff at public and private institutions of higher education on how to fairly and equitably investigate and adjudicate conduct violations and disclosures. This is a professional position that provides ongoing instructional design support, consultation, and coordination of development and revisions across the SCI catalog.
Job Duties And Responsibilities Include
Provide high-level, focused, academic instructional design consulting
Participate in the research and application of emerging technologies and curricular models for online teaching and learning
Provide guidance and support to developers using adult learning principles, as well as active and authentic learning
Collaborate with content experts, educational technologists, graphics specialists, multimedia developers, and other Instructional designers for the consistent delivery of exemplary courses
Consult with the Instructional Design team manager on processes and best practices
Assist with the module upload process into the SCI's Learning Management System
Troubleshoot technical concerns and assist users in relation to the training catalog
Play a key role in the annual turnover of the SCI Learning Management System and training catalog by coordinating with the Instructional Design team
Assist with the facilitation of the Student Conduct Institute's website and repository of course images for the Learning Management System
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
Minimum of one-year experience in instructional design or related experience
Knowledge of instructional design software, preferably Articulate 360 Suite
Experience with Course/Learning Management Systems
Excellent communication and writing skills
Experience working in team-based environments
Organizational skills and strong attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Instructional Design or related field
Two or more years working in the development of online courses
Expertise in a variety of media
Experience providing instructional design support in a large scale, high volume distributed environment
Expertise and knowledge of best design practices for the development of online learning environments
Experience working with higher education professionals and/or attorneys
Additional Information
Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications. The range for this position is $55,000-$62,000.
State Title: Instructional Support Technician (SL-3)
This is an in-person position located in Albany, NY. Remote/hybrid options may be arranged in the future.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.
