We're looking for someone to join our team as a Database Engineer II who:

The Database Engineer II (DBE II) contributes to the organization’s database management strategy by ensuring database systems' integrity, performance, and design. This mid-level role involves developing and optimizing database designs, defining and creating tables, and implementing and maintaining ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes. The DBE II also performs routine maintenance, monitors system performance, troubleshoots issues, and executes database upgrades and backups to ensure reliability and efficiency.

The DBE II collaborates with application teams and senior database staff to enhance automation and validate data load routines. Contributes to discussions to implement database design improvements and optimize database operations while adhering to best practices. 


Essential Functions:


  • Assist in designing and implementing database structures, schemas, and tables based on business requirements and best practices.
  • Perform regular database backups, restoration, and disaster recovery operations.
  • Collaborate with developers, analysts, and other stakeholders to optimize database queries, performance, and indexing strategies.
  • Ensure data security by implementing access controls, user authentication, and authorization mechanisms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, providing timely resolutions to minimize downtime and disruptions.
  • Implement and maintain database monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify potential performance bottlenecks or anomalies.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of database migrations, upgrades, and patch management.
  • Support the development and management of Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to facilitate data integration and transformation within the data environment.
  • Document database configurations, processes, and procedures for reference and knowledge sharing.

 

You'll be successful with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven experience of 4-6 years as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in database administration for major relational database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Proficiency in T-SQL query writing, stored procedures, triggers, and view creation for data retrieval, modification, and manipulation in Microsoft SQL Server environments.
  • Knowledge of database design, normalization, and optimization techniques.
  • Experience with database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing.
  • Familiarity with data security and access control principles.
  • Awareness of scripting languages (e.g., SQL, PowerShell, Bash) for automation and maintenance tasks.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator) are a plus.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to work a full-time schedule.
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment screening (background check, drug tests, and references).
  • Must be able to comply with organizational behavioral standards.
