Overview
The Security Services Trainer 4/Senior Curriculum Developer position at Arctic Wolf designs, creates, and implements training for internal Security Services (S2) team and potentially external AW customers as well.
Senior curriculum developers work to design and implement effective learning resources that cater to diverse adult learner needs. They collaborate with stakeholders, such as instructional coordinators and subject matter experts, to create content that aligns with educational standards and organizational objectives. Their work supports both student learning and professional development through structured online and instructor-led training, multimedia resources, and cutting-edge instructional design. Ideal candidates have strong project management skills, a background in teaching or education, and a passion for fostering meaningful learning experiences.
Key responsibilities:
Developing curricula - Design a new curriculum that meets the needs of adult learners at various grade levels or professional stages.
Collaborating with stakeholders -Work with subject matter experts (SMEs) to create effective educational materials.
Conducting needs assessments. Analyze the learning objectives of professional learners to determine curriculum requirements.
Creating instructional material - Create compelling blended learning journeys using adult learning principles incorporating multiple modalities. For example, develop multimedia resources, e-learning lessons, and other educational content to enhance learning experiences (includes but not limited to videos, demos, hands-on exercises, etc.).
Aligning with standards - Ensure curriculum design meets training development team standards and organizational goals.
Reviewing and updating curricula - Regularly revise instructional materials to incorporate feedback, new methodologies, and emerging technologies.
Training instructors - Communicate clearly to instructors the purpose, objectives, and content of lessons so they understand new and/or updated content in order teach it effectively and answer questions.
Implementing technology - Use educational technology and tools to create engaging, interactive learning formats and training assets.
Monitoring outcomes - Evaluate the effectiveness of curricula through learner and instructor performance metrics and feedback.
Learning new technology - Comfortable having to rapidly learn new technology and apply adult learning principles to distill it into effective lessons. This includes creating hands on lab activities in a complex technical environment.
Qualifications and skills:
Self-starter. Ability to work a project from beginning to end with minimal guidance. Relies on their passion and experience for designing, developing, and maintaining technical learning content for various adult roles.
Education. A bachelor’s degree in education, curriculum design, or a related field.
Experience. 5–10 years of experience in instructional design, teaching adults in corporate settings, and/or curriculum development. Familiarity and experience with learning technologies and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
Communication skills. Strong verbal and written skills for collaborating with stakeholders and presenting ideas effectively. Experience partnering with senior stakeholders on learning initiatives.
Instructional design expertise. Knowledge of instructional design methodologies and educational technology tools.
Project management. Ability to manage curriculum development projects from planning to implementation.
Technical curriculum development skills. Solid grasp of instructional fundamentals for adult learners. Proficiency in tools like multimedia software (Adobe Premiere Pro/Techsmith Snagit, e-learning platforms (Articulate: Rise 360), and Microsoft Office.
Problem-solving skills. Capability to address learning challenges and create innovative solutions.
Knowledge of learning standards. Familiarity with adult learning methodologies for corporate settings.
Certifications. Credentials in instructional design or curriculum development are an advantage.
Technical Cyber Security skills. Understanding of security and networking basics.
