The Medical Insurance Billing Specialist confirms patient eligibility and verify coverage details with both Medicare and private insurance providers before billing and obtain prior authorizations if one is needed.
Essential Duties:

Insurance Verification and Prior Authorizations: Confirm patient eligibility and verify coverage details with both Medicare and private insurance providers before billing and obtain a PA if one is needed.

Front-End Expertise: Utilize your skills in VOB, QA work, PA processes, and payer portal navigation to identify issues and implement quick, effective solutions.

Collaboration & Communication: Coordinate with internal Wellspect channels and external insurance contacts to streamline billing and shipping processes and resolve discrepancies promptly.

Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of insurance verifications, prior authorization request statuses, and resolutions, providing regular reports to management.
Key Performance Measures:

Insurance Verification Accuracy: Ensure verifications are completed correctly on the first attempt, minimizing errors that could delay billing.

Prior Authorization Time: Accurately and efficiently obtain a prior authorization in a timely manner, minimizing errors that could delay an order from being processed.
Skills:

Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Proficiency with standard office software and data management tools.
Competencies:

Proven experience in a coordination, administrative, or project management role within the healthcare or medical device industry.

Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage regional operations effectively.

Familiarity with healthcare billing processes and/or product implementation is preferred. Ability to prioritize workload with an attention to detail and willingness to complete projects in a timely and efficient manner
Experience

Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in healthcare billing, insurance verification, or a related DME AR function.
Education

Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred: Associate’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field

Additional certifications in medical billing, insurance claims processing, or healthcare administration are considered a plus.
The hourly rate for this remote role is between $19-24. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.
