As a Staff Software Engineer in the Architecture group at Bitwarden you will contribute directly to the future of the Bitwarden product across mobile, web, and server components while working with a great team and amazing open-source community. We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of delivering valuable features throughout the entire development lifecycle and play a direct role in shaping our products. Additionally, a team member within our Architecture group will direct and support decisions for new frameworks and technical strategy across all domains and engineering teams. This person operates at a level of accountability and responsibility where they are independently-driven and have shown a propensity to find and work through solutions on a regular basis, mentoring others along the way.

This is an all-remote team and we are looking for someone located in the U.S. We do not offer visa sponsorship at this time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Become an expert and authority on the Bitwarden codebase, including: backend infrastructure, APIs, database, web app, mobile apps, browser extensions, desktop apps, and more
  • Participate in hands-on development of the Bitwarden product
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Shepherd development activities from the idea phase to execution, assisting all teams via code and architectural review, community engagement, demonstration of new work, and more
  • Occasionally contribute bug fixes or shepherd pull requests submitted by the user community
  • Take lead on new areas of desired product investment and deliver proof-of-concept or minimum-viable projects, along with handoff to domain teams for eventual ownership
  • Own systems-level documentation and advocate for effective documentation at all levels
  • Serve as a point of technical escalation and knowledge to help resolve issues and technical hurdles the team may encounter
  • Mentor and coach other teams through solution design and implementation
  • Advocate for and on behalf of the development and delivery of Bitwarden’s product, process, and organization

WHAT YOU BRING TO BITWARDEN

  • Experience working in some or all of our stack (.NET Core with C#, JavaScript / TypeScript, Angular, Docker, Azure, SQL Server or similar RDBMS)
  • Proficiency using source control
  • Collaborative and adaptable mindset

In the United States, the starting base compensation range for this role is $180,000 - $240,000. Actual compensation may vary based on level, relevant experience, and skill set as assessed in the interview process, as well as market data by location. See our careers page for a list of benefits. Please note that compensation outside the U.S. will differ based on the market.
