Job description

 
Summary

Independently manages and coordinates complex day-to-day activities of one or more research studies within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences focused on the mental health and quality of life among the female Veteran population. Responsibilities include overseeing study operations, regulatory compliance, participant recruitment, and data management for the Multifaceted Intervention to Restore Resilience and Overcome Risk (MIRROR) research study. The MIRROR project was designed to understand and treat the psychological outcomes (e.g., post-traumatic stress disorder [PTSD] and emotion dysregulation) associated with exposure to intimate partner violence [IPV] and/or military sexual trauma [MST], and co-occurring brain injury (BI) in female Veterans (FVets).  Supports the Principal Investigator (PI) by contributing to study design, staff training, and project oversight.

 

The ideal candidate will have prior experience coordinating clinical trials or behavioral research studies, familiarity with psychiatric or behavioral health populations, IRB processes, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, proficiency with REDCap, SPSS, and electronic medical record systems, familiarity with virtual platforms in clinical or research environments.

 

Research focus:  Psychological outcomes (e.g., post-traumatic stress disorder [PTSD] and emotion dysregulation) associated with exposure to intimate partner violence [IPV] and/or military sexual trauma [MST], and co-occurring brain injury (BI) in female Veterans (FVets).  

 

This position is remote but restricted to Texas.

Job Duties
  • Independently coordinates all aspects of the Multifaceted Intervention to Restore Resilience and Overcome Risk (MIRROR) research project including recruitment, enrollment, scheduling, and follow-up of study participants.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for interested in female Veterans, study participants, peer support specialists, and clinical collaborators] throughout the study lifecycle.
  • Develops and maintains regulatory documentation, including IRB submissions, amendments, continuing reviews, and adverse event reporting, per institutional and federal guidelines.
  • Ensures data integrity and oversees data collection and entry into REDCap. 
  • Creates study-specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) and contribute to the development of research protocols and manuals.
  • Assists the PI with drafting study reports, grant submissions, and progress updates for sponsors or regulatory bodies.
  • Monitors study compliance, quality control, and participant safety in collaboration with the PI and clinical teams.
  • Coordinates study-related meetings, prepares agendas, and documents meeting minutes for the MIRROR research team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the PI or project leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Public Health, Social Work, or Counseling.
  • Experience in Mental Health.
  • Familiarity with Institutional Review Board (IRB) processes.
  • Military background or experience working with veterans.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
