The Enterprise Architect specializing in data architecture and data privacy is a key role within SEI, guiding the overall enterprise data architecture strategy. This position focuses on three main areas: data architecture, data privacy, and AI-ready data. This individual is responsible for designing, developing, and overseeing the enterprise-wide data architecture, ensuring that data is systematically organized, easily accessible, secure, and in full alignment with the SEI’s business objectives. The role also involves ensuring compliance with relevant data privacy laws and industry standards across all data collection, storage, processing, and dissemination practices. Additionally, this position collaborates with data engineering/operations, analytics, legal, IT security, and product development teams, and works with stakeholders to support AI-ready data initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Enterprise Data Architecture Design: Develop and implement scalable and efficient enterprise-wide data architecture strategies. This includes designing comprehensive systems, frameworks, and processes for data integration, storage, and accessibility that align with both business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Data Privacy Compliance: Ensure that all data management practices comply with global data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.). Integrate privacy-by-design principles at all stages of the data architecture process, ensuring privacy and security are embedded from the initial stages of data collection through processing and storage.
- Data Governance: Establish and maintain robust data governance frameworks across SEI to ensure data quality, consistency, and security. Lead the creation of data stewardship processes, metadata management, and data access controls to safeguard data across the organization.
- Cloud and Big Data Solutions: Closely with the data engineering and analytics team in the enhancement of SEI GCP data platform.
- Collaboration & Leadership: Work closely with IT teams, business leaders, legal, and compliance officers to develop data-driven solutions that meet both business needs and regulatory obligations. Provide leadership across cross-functional teams, ensuring the execution of data management strategies that support long-term business goals.
- Emerging Technologies Integration: Stay ahead of emerging technologies and trends, such as AI and machine learning, and evaluate how these can be leveraged to enhance SEI’s data management architecture. Work closely with AI engineering and data engineering team on AI ready data.
- Risk Management & Security: Work with SEI Risk Management and IT security team in the implementation of robust security measures to ensure that sensitive data is protected against breaches and unauthorized access.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as a liaison with senior stakeholders, including the C-suite, to communicate the value of data architecture and privacy initiatives. Ensure that business and compliance objectives are met through the effective delivery of data management and privacy solutions.

- Privacy-by-Design Expertise: Strong knowledge of integrating privacy-by-design principles into product development, ensuring privacy is embedded across teams.
- Cloud Systems & Data Architecture: Proficient in designing scalable data architectures using cloud platforms like Google Cloud. Expertise in modern data models such as data lakes, data warehouses, and real-time data streaming.
- AI-Ready Data Solutions: Skilled in creating AI-ready data pipelines, ensuring high-quality, structured, and privacy-compliant data for machine learning and AI applications.
- Privacy Regulations Knowledge: In-depth understanding of global privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA) and designing systems that meet compliance requirements while safeguarding sensitive data.
- Data Management & Integration: Expert in data integration (ETL), data quality management, and metadata handling, ensuring seamless data flow and consistency across platforms.
- AI & Machine Learning in Data Management: Collaboration with AI engineering team to develop AI models and integrate machine learning algorithms, emphasizing data privacy and data governance.
- Governance & Compliance: Proven track record in implementing robust data governance frameworks to ensure data privacy, security, and compliance across enterprise systems.

Work Experience:
- 7+ years of experience in data architecture
- 3+ years in a leadership or enterprise architecture role.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing large-scale data systems, cloud solutions, and data privacy compliance initiatives.
Education:
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Business, Privacy Engineering, or related field.
Certificates, licenses and registrations:
- Certifications in data privacy (CIPT, CIPM, CIPP/US), cloud certifications (Google professional data architect), and enterprise architecture (TOGAF) are a plus.
Other:
- Must be able to travel occasionally should a business need arise. For most roles travel would not be common. Travel may involve plane, car or metro. In accordance with ADA policies, reasonable accommodations regarding travel limitations can be provided. Travel will be more common for roles such as Account Executives (25 - 50%), senior leaders (10 – 20%) or Capella Core Faculty (5 – 10%).
- Ability to work onsite in Corporate or Campus location (in a typical office environment) may be required based on role. If so, this would include being mobile within the office, including movement from floor-to-floor using elevators or stairs.
- If offsite or hybrid role, must have access to work in setting which enables meeting all requirements of the role (including privacy, reliable internet access, phone, ability to video conference, etc.) at a remote location.
