Job Description

The Human Factor Specialist is part of a core team that will be responsible to help the Digital Design Team apply sound Human Factors principals and applicable government regulations within our designs as they apply to the in vehicle digital experience. Our team develops and maintains design requirements to communicate these principals. Designs are assessed against the requirements to ensure compliance. This position will work collaboratively with the digital design team and quality / human factors team members.

Responsibilities

The main activities for a Human Factors Specialist include:

  • Support Human Factor Design Requirement maintenance & updates considering design evolution, human factors peer research and other external influences such as regulations. (Design Requirement Examples: Touch Surface Contact Size, Spacing between digital buttons, Legibility - Text Size, Contrast of elements, etc)
  • Modernize our human factors design requirement library within our design tool (Figma) to deploy requirements in a concise / visual manner.
  • Support research to modernize and develop sound requirements.
  • Capture / communicate coming changes to regulations.
  • Support Human Factor Design Requirement compliance through design verification methods
  • Establish requirement verifications plans in our requirement compliance database (FEDE)
  • Manage design requirement deviations
  • Maintain timeline of vehicle program milestones and compliance deliverables and communicate to team.


Qualifications

  • Preferred degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Factors Engineering / Psychology or Ergonomics, Industrial Designer or Digital Designer
  • Working knowledge of Human Factors
  • Digital Design Experience is plus
  • Figma experience a plus, but not required.
  • Teamwork
  • Effective communication skills
  • Proactive
  • Proficiency in English
  • Ability to communicate in a written and oral form and interact internationally with other teams.
