Job description

540 is looking for an Army Data Community Manager that will work with users for various financial management data initiatives related to Advana and the Army data community called ARES. 

The project engages with many systems and data sources across DoD and Army to build and manage data products by aggregating data in new ways. The goal is to create, lead and grow a data community focused on Army data (currently focused on financial). You will be the main point of contact for all teams, projects, and users for the ARES Advana Community. Your main area of responsibility will be to support the ARES community, capture user needs, and work with the data / dev / scrum teams to ensure they are implemented. 

Location: Remote within the continental United States, East Coast working hours with some flexibility afforded. Occasional travel may be required (up to 1x per month)
Citizenship & Clearance Requirement: per client requirements, must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance
Education Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 10+ years of related experience
  • Excellent communication and writing skills 
  • Strong organization / project management / requirements management skills 
  • Experience creating re-usable documentation, guides, best practices for a data community
  • Experience working with large groups of end users / data consumers to ensure their needs are met
  • Experience managing release notes and communication for a data platform and ensure users understand what changes / updates have been implemented and deployed to production
  • Experience working directly with government leadership managing teams, customers, and data requirements
  • Experience providing both technical and functional training to end users of the data; the ability to explain complex topics in easy-to-understand ways
  • Experience working on a large data platform
  • Experience building and/or managing data pipelines 
  • Expert experience using Jira and Confluence
  • Experience designing data products for DoD enterprise and mission system data consumers
  • Management of data initiatives and projects from start to finish
  • Experience working with government leads to prioritize data product user stories / requirements
  • Experience managing customer relationships for a user base of hundreds of cross-domain users

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in or with Joint big data platform, Advana
  • Comfortable writing SQL queries 
  • Experience maintaining data pipelines with tables containing over a billion rows / records
  • Experience with: AWS, GitLab, Databricks or equivalent tool / platform
  • Experience working with financial systems
  • Experience managing project contractual deliverables and finances
