Job description

About Specialty Program Group: Our goal is to partner with industry-leading specialty businesses to provide them with the ability to achieve their goals and optimize their businesses. Specialty Program Group offers access to capital and investment, deep carrier relationships, creative thinking, product development and broad distribution, while allowing our businesses to maintain the essence of what makes them successful. Specialty Program Group delivers leading-edge specialty expertise backed by transformative digital capabilities and sophisticated data and analytics.

About SPG Ancillary, a division of Strategic Benefit Resources: SPG Ancillary is a division of Specialty Program Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of HUB International. Our mission is to solve problems, create a better experience, and produce results for our broker, carrier, and benefits technology partners. We pride ourselves on encouraging creativity with each problem, embracing collaboration at every opportunity, and empowering commitment to expected results. Our expertise lies in dental, vision, life, disability, supplemental health, and leave management. Our organization is comprised of four integrated teams: marketing, client service, leave management solutions, and business operations. As an extension of a brokerage’s consulting and service teams, we support marketing, sold case implementation, account support, renewal management, analytics & insights, leave administration & state disability compliance.

About the Position: We’re hiring a strategic, adaptable, execution-first Senior Vice President of Operations to take over day-to-day leadership of operations and partner directly with the COO to build and scale a business with depth, intention, and serious horsepower. This role isn’t just about keeping the trains running — it’s about laying the tracks, picking the destination, and helping the team get there. You’ll sit shoulder-to-shoulder with the COO, with full autonomy to lead and make decisions, and a collaborative partner to bounce ideas off, pressure-test assumptions, and brainstorm in real time.

You’ll be responsible for translating vision into action, leading our teams through ambiguity, and operationalizing both sides of our business — the general agency and our specialty benefits division. From staffing models to process design, tech stack development to culture-building, this is a critical leadership role for someone who knows how to operate in the gray, move fast with intention, and build scalable systems that grow with the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to-day operations across the marketing, implementation, ongoing service, renewal, & absence management divisions — ensuring we deliver on our promise to brokers and carriers with excellence and consistency.
  • Build, own, and evolve our operational tech stack — identifying tools, systems, and workflows that streamline our service model and enable us to scale with confidence.
  • Drive capacity planning and workforce modeling in partnership with our AVP of Data Ops — ensuring the team is properly resourced and we’re forecasting revenue opportunities with clarity.
  • Create repeatable, scalable workflows for our specialty benefits channel to support diversification beyond current partners.
  • Bring structure and prioritization by creating and executing against strategic roadmaps that keep the organization moving forward.
  • Act as the strategic anchor for change management initiatives, process design, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor a team of early-career operations professionals, helping them grow into confident, capable contributors.
  • Foster a strong, remote-first culture grounded in connection, ownership, and results.
  • Collaborate across functions to support growth initiatives, drive cross-sell strategies, and strengthen our collective impact as part of a broader organization.

The Right Leader For This Stage:

  • You’ve operated in environments where things weren’t figured out — and that excites you. You thrive in ambiguity and know how to move through it with confidence and clarity.
  • You balance urgency with wisdom — you know when to go fast and when it’s worth slowing down to build the right foundation.
  • You prioritize effectively when everything feels important and keep teams focused on what matters most.
  • You’re not looking to just report up — you’re looking for a true partner. You’ll ride shotgun with the COO, with autonomy to make decisions and the space to bring your ideas to life.
  • You’ve got a passion for mentoring and want to be part of shaping a team and culture from the ground up.
  • You’re excited by the idea of scaling something big — and leaving your fingerprint on every part of the operation.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of operational leadership, preferably in group insurance, benefits, healthcare, or a related industry.
  • Experience building and scaling teams and systems in early-stage or rapidly growing environments.
  • Strong analytical and modeling skills — you know how to plan for growth and adjust in real time.
  • Experience owning and developing tech stacks or tools to support scalable operations.
  • A track record of building strong teams, culture, and results in a fully remote environment.
  • Excellent communicator and cross-functional collaborator.
  • Tech-forward, flexible, and solutions-oriented.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.

Work Location: This is a 100% remote position working in your local time zone. Access to a local office may be available upon request.

Salary Transparency: The expected salary range for this position is $250,000-$300,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level. HUB International is proud to offer comprehensive benefit and total compensation packages which could include health/dental/vision/life/disability insurance, FSA, HSA, and 401(k) accounts, paid-time off benefits, and eligible bonuses, equity, and commissions for some positions.
