What’s ahead — and why it’s an exciting time to join the team:

Deepening our native integrations with SAP, Workday, Microsoft, and LinkedIn to seamlessly embed our skills intelligence into the platforms where critical workforce decisions are made.

Embedding our agentic AI to help customers plan smarter for the future—powering workforce strategies, internal mobility, and skills forecasting.

✨  Advancing our use of proprietary LLMs and knowledge graph technology to help organizations unlock broader talent pools, make fairer decisions, and expand access to opportunity at scale.

But it’s not all about creating high-quality products, we also very much value the company culture we have worked hard to create; built on trust, empathy & honesty ensuring our workforce is able to bring their full selves to work.

About the Role

As a Principal Software Engineer for Security, you’ll tackle our most challenging technical problems end-to-end—from discovery and architecture through implementation and operations—while embedding strong security principles into everything we build. You’ll own our security engineering practices and standards, driving the definition, implementation, and continuous improvement of secure infrastructure patterns, policies, and automated controls to ensure that every layer of Beamery’s platform is resilient, compliant (SOC2 Type 2, ISO27001, ISO42001), and production-ready.

What you’ll be doing at Beamery
  • Hands-On Delivery
Build and ship security infrastructure and tooling—using Terraform or Pulumi to automate guardrails, integrate CI/CD scanning, and enable secure self-service deployments.

  • Architect & Design
Produce and review architectures and system designs, balancing performance, maintainability, and security, across the whole Beamery product and platform.

  • Security by Design
Drive threat modeling, secure defaults, and automated security checks directly within our infrastructure definitions and CI/CD pipelines—making security an integral part of all our solutions from the ground up.

  • Security Tooling Ownership
Lead the configuration, integration, and evolution of our security toolchain including dependency scanning, GCP Security Command Center, and vulnerability scanning—ensuring these tools are embedded in our pipelines and processes.

  • Scalable Infrastructure
Own and improve the security of our GCP infrastructure—networking, IAM, workload isolation, secrets management, and service reliability—while ensuring observability, fault tolerance, and adherence to best practices.

  • Operational Excellence
Champion end-to-end ownership: define SLIs/SLOs, build runbooks, and mentor your squad in monitoring, alerting, and incident response for all services you help build.

  • Standards & Evangelism
Help shape our engineering standards—covering API design, observability, deployment patterns, and security controls—and evangelize them through code reviews and internal guilds.

  • Mentorship & Leadership
Coach and mentor engineers on both core engineering skills and secure coding/infrastructure practices; elevate the team’s overall technical bar.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Product, Customer Success, Sales, and our key customers to translate business requirements and risk considerations into pragmatic, shippable solutions. Help translate our customer requirements into practical implementations.

Your background may include
  • Deep Engineering Expertise
Proven track record designing and delivering cloud-based infrastructure using Git, Terraform/Pulumi, Kubernetes, or similar.

  • Security-Minded
A history of integrating security practices—threat modeling, secure defaults, automated scanning—into your work, even if your primary focus wasn’t “security engineering.”

  • CI/CD & DevOps
Hands-on experience with modern CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code workflows.

  • Operational Ownership
Skilled in defining SLOs, building monitoring/alerting, and leading post-mortems to drive reliability and security improvements.

  • Architectural Leadership
Previous success as a senior individual contributor (Staff, Principal, Architect) owning cross-team, high-visibility technical initiatives.

  • Collaborative Communicator
Ability to work fluently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, distilling complex problems into clear, actionable plans.

  • Mentor & Coach
A passion for developing others—whether through code reviews, pairing, or informal training sessions.
