Job description

The Farmer & Industry Relations Territory Manager is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and growing strong relationships with dairy farmers, industry representatives, and key organizations within an assigned Dairy MAX region. This role plays a critical part in ensuring continued engagement and support for promotion, education, and research initiatives at the local, regional, and national levels.

The Farmer & Industry Relations Territory Manager will also deliver meaningful value to dairy farmers by providing consistent, informative communication about the work accomplished through dairy checkoff funding at Dairy MAX, Dairy Management Inc. (DMI), and related national organizations.

Requirements

Program Development and Implementation
  • Work with the Vice President of Farmer & Industry Relations and the Farmer & Industry Relations team to develop and implement effective programming in assigned territory related to regional (Dairy MAX) and national (DMI) dairy checkoff.
  • Identify opportunities to effectively promote Dairy MAX programs and services within territory.
  • Coordinate and implement cost-effective community promotion activities and events to promote dairy.
Relationship Building and Communication
  • Develop positive relationships with area dairy farmers and their families, dairy industry representatives, coop officials, and community leaders representing dairy interests.
  • Utilize a sales-minded approach to effectively communicate the value of Dairy MAX checkoff programs to dairy farmers and industry leaders.
  • Serve as a dairy resource to community leaders with the purpose of increasing dairy confidence.
  • Implement a regular schedule of on-farm visits with dairy farmers.
Reporting and Accountability
  • Regularly report outcomes and key information of farm visits to the Farmer & Industry Relations Vice President and CEO.
Professional Development and Industry Engagement
  • Increase industry awareness and knowledge through trainings and other educational activities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and engaging with professional organizations.
Internal Collaboration
  • Collaborate with other departments within Dairy MAX to support and accomplish strategic objectives and foster a culture of trust.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree - Required
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in dairy or agriculture industry - Required
  • Minimum of 1-year administrative experience - Required
