Job description

Job Mission
As the Country Representative, you will empower the success of Terraformation’s ambitious native forest restoration projects in the Philippines. The Country Representative plays a critical leadership role in refining and executing Terraformation’s country-level strategy. Acting as the primary representative of Terraformation in-country, the Country Representative is responsible for building and maintaining strategic relationships with government entities, partners, and stakeholders to enable the successful sourcing, development, and implementation of forest restoration projects.

This role requires strategic thinking, relationship-building, and on-the-ground execution. The Country Representative will be instrumental in expanding Terraformation’s impact within the country by unlocking new opportunities, supporting fundraising efforts, and coordinating key visits and events.

Job Type:  Full-Time (40hrs a week), Contractor (1 year, Renewable)

Location: Remote; Philippines


Responsibilities
  • 1. Refine and Execute the Country Strategy, including the management of national Strategic Partners (20%)
  • Adapt and implement Terraformation’s country strategy in alignment with global priorities.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure strategic coherence across teams (sourcing, programs, carbon, etc.).
  • Identify, build, and manage national partnerships with NGOs, academic institutions, multilateral agencies, and other local stakeholders.
  • Plan and coordinate strategic visits from funders, partners, or Terraformation leadership; and Ensure site visits and stakeholder engagements are impactful, well-organized, and aligned with broader communication goals.
  • Be the Terraformation culture carrier in the country.
  • 2. Manage Government Relations (30%)
  • Develop and maintain trusted relationships with relevant government agencies at national and local levels.
  • Secure necessary regulatory support, permissions, and endorsements for project execution.
  • Represent Terraformation in formal and informal government engagements and networks.
  • 3. Source Projects and Partners (30%)
  • Identify promising forest restoration projects aligned with Terraformation’s mission and standards.
  • Support project sourcing efforts in collaboration with internal sourcing and technical teams.
  • Vet and assess local implementing partners for project suitability and capacity.
  • 4. Fundraise Locally (20%)
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities within the country and relevant donor networks (e.g., EU, WB, AFD, UK agencies).
  • Work with the global fundraising team to build country-specific fundraising strategies.
  • Represent Terraformation in high-level donor meetings and funding forums.

  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in international development, environmental policy, or program leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage complex stakeholder relationships, especially with governments and donors.
  • Experience with fundraising, partnership development, or external affairs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High degree of cultural competence and experience working in diverse, cross-functional teams.
  • Fluency in English is required; local language proficiency is strongly preferred.

  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with forestry, climate, biodiversity, or carbon forestry projects
  • Track record of building lasting partnerships with relevant stakeholders in (the Philippines), especially national and regional offices of sectoral authorities
