The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Accountant who can hit the ground running and take full ownership of key accounting functions at #paid. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, managing payroll, leading monthly reconciliations, and driving operational excellence across our accounting processes.
This is a hands-on role for someone with proven experience in full-cycle accounting who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative, and remote-first environment. Key Responsibilities Full-Cycle Accounting: Manage and execute end-to-end accounting functions, including journal entries, accruals, and month-end close processesPayroll: Own payroll processing and compliance, collaborating with People Ops to ensure accuracy and timeliness across provincesReconciliations: Lead monthly balance sheet and account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies to ensure accuracyRevenue Recognition: A strong understanding of revenue recognition with experience managing different revenue streams.Accounts Payable: Oversee all AP activity, ensuring timely, accurate, and policy-compliant payments to vendors and creatorsExpense Management: Own tools like Float and Navan, ensuring adherence to internal policies and complete documentationFixed Assets & Prepaids: Maintain accurate schedules and ensure proper treatment for amortization and reportingProcess Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to streamline workflows, reduce errors, and support scalabilityCross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Revenue, Operations, and People teams to improve financial visibility and support business decisionsAudit & Reporting Support: Assist with year-end audits, tax filings, and ad hoc financial reportingTo be successful, you'll need toProven experience: 3–5+ years in full-cycle accounting with clear examples of independently managing payroll, reconciliations, and month-end closeAccounting education: Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with CPA designation (or in progress) preferredPayroll expertise: Strong working knowledge of Canadian payroll practices, legislation, and tools like ADP.Detail orientation: Meticulous with numbers and able to spot discrepancies or inefficienciesInitiative & ownership: Proactive and solutions-oriented with a track record of making improvements without needing to be askedTech-savvy: Comfortable using accounting software like QuickBooks, NetSuite, or Xero along with Excel or Google SheetsStartup mindset: Adaptable, curious, and excited to thrive in a fast-paced, remote environmentAbout you You take ownership and pride yourself on accuracy and efficiencyYou’ve led accounting processes in previous roles, not just supported themYou’re energized by solving problems and improving how things are doneYou collaborate well and can explain financial concepts to non-finance teammatesYou stay calm under pressure and know how to prioritize when things get busyYou care about the details but don’t get stuck in them—you move things forwardYou’re excited by the idea of working in a fast-growing company where your impact is visibleNice to have Experience supporting US payroll or multi-currency accountingFamiliarity with SaaS or marketplace business modelsExperience working in a remote or distributed team environmentWhy #paid We are a group of passionate and thoughtful people working together to fundamentally change the way brands are built while empowering creators to make a living doing what they loveWe are growing quickly!
