Job Description Summary
The VP, BD Excellence Deployment is a key senior member of the Global BD Excellence team, responsible for delivering and coaching BD Excellence across Business Units (BUs), Regions, and General Functions. This role will have direct reporting line responsibility to drive BD Excellence in our BUs and regions in alignment with the BD Strong Teams model. The VP, BD Excellence Deployment is a key senior member of the Global BD Excellence team, responsible for delivering and coaching BD Excellence across Business Units (BUs), Regions, and General Functions. This role will have direct reporting line responsibility to drive BD Excellence in our BUs and regions in alignment with the BD Strong Teams model. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with expertise in business operations, process optimization, and change management, and highly capable of driving results in a matrix organization.

Location: Remote - Preferred Location in Northern NJ; also open to locations east of the Mississippi River.

Travel: 50 – 60%

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

Coaching

  • Coach leaders on creating and implementing continuous improvement and lean operating models that drive business performance.

  • Coach leaders on utilization of Lean Tools to drive business performance

  • Serve as a coach to BD Excellence Leaders, BU Presidents, and Regional Leaders, ensuring continued progress in BD’s journey of driving an Operating culture based on the principles of Lean and Continuous Improvement.

  • Support leaders in navigating change management processes to ensure successful adoption of continuous improvement practices across all organizational levels.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the BD Excellence SVP and executive team on matters related to leadership, talent development, and organizational performance.

Operational Implementation & Execution

  • Develop capability plans with BU and Regional BD Excellence leaders that align with business priorities.

  • Build customized organizational capability plans algin to the unique needs of the BU, Region or Function that drive BD Excellence adoption and maturity.

  • Leading the BD Excellence BU and Regional leaders, oversee the BD Excellence implementation plans, ensuring key milestones are met on time and with quality, measurable outcomes.

Prioritization Planning

  • Partner with senior leadership to identify high-impact opportunities, execute process improvements, and drive transformational initiatives across the organization.

  • Drive BD Excellence consistency in rigor, agenda, tool training and utilization with BU and Regional business leaders

Staffing

  • Evaluate staffing efficiency and partner with business partners to build out BD Excellence talent that aligns with a growth model

  • Support Employee Development: Identify opportunities for employee development and training to enhance skills and career growth in BD Excellence.

  • Engage in BD Excellence staffing within the businesses, taking an active role in interview panels, talent pipeline discussions, and sharing of best talent across BDX

KSA Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):

  • 10+ years of experience of people management experience, with clear examples of hiring and developing 10X talent as part of a high-performance team

  • Proven track record of taking over roles, driving incremental change and being promoted to the next opportunity.

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing new strategies, operating models, etc… Ability to develop a strategic plan, execute on the plan and in doing so demonstrate a clear uptick in performance

  • Passion for process and lean methodologies, with 7+ years experience in a culture that utilizes lean operating principles.

  • A true expert in the fundamental principles and tools of Lean and Continues Improvement (Kaizen, Problem Solving, VSM, VM, Standard Work, KPI’s)

  • Proven track record of driving a robust talent pipeline through coaching, mentoring, and talent development collaboration.

  • Education/Degree: BS degree required.

  • Experience working in a global organization, considering cultural differences to drive adoption of new tools and approaches.

  • Global experience

  • Acquires data and insights from multiple and diverse sources when solving problems. Works collaboratively to uncover root cause(s) to difficult problems.

  • Relates comfortably with people across levels, functions, culture, and geography. Acts with diplomacy and tact. Builds rapport in an open, friendly, and accepting way.

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Certification in business systems and lean tools.

  • Certification as a trainer or facilitator.

  • MBA preferred.

  • Strategic mindset, capable of thinking both tactically and strategically.

  • Experience living abroad

Experience as a functional expert in commercial, engineering, operations, etc.
