Position Summary
This position offers a unique opportunity to both observe and contribute to the learning and capacity-building journey of key stakeholders within the parliamentary ecosystem, with the ultimate goal of supporting parliaments in becoming — and remaining — leaders in effective gender equality and women’s empowerment (GEWE) practices. Contributors to the course, including the learners themselves, comprise high-level international experts and practitioners — such as Members of Parliament, Senators, and senior representatives from the United Nations.
Primary Responsibilities
Your main responsibility in this role is to ensure the seamless technical operation, performance, and deployment of the online learning tools and processes. These elements are essential to delivering the substantive course content and meeting the learning objectives.
A. Core Role
You will be responsible for coordinating and managing all technical aspects of the online sessions and interactions, before, during, and after each session.
Key expected results include:
Supporting and facilitating technical issues such as follow-ups with McGill IT services during, and outside of lecture hours
The delivery of teaching, speeches, and online interactivity — including group discussions — proceeds seamlessly, supported by the agile preparation and real-time management of relevant software and tools.
B. Time Commitment and Availability
To achieve these objectives, you will be expected to:
Attend all scheduled synchronous online sessions (please refer to the calendar below).
Be available at least one hour prior to each session, remain present throughout the session, and stay for 30 minutes afterward for post-session debriefing.

Additional responsibilities include supporting the course lecturer in all aspects of course delivery. Tasks may include, but are not limited to:
Reviewing required and supplementary materials in preparation for tutorials and class discussions;
Consulting and maintaining regular communication with the course lecturer;
Supporting student learning and engagement;
Communicating effectively with learners and responding to inquiries via email, myCourses, Microsoft Teams, or Zoom;
Assisting in the overall management of the online course platform, including facilitating group discussions, monitoring discussion boards, and responding to questions;
Conducting virtual tutorials as needed, including helping participants strengthen their technical skills in using online collaborative tools and software;
Holding virtual office hours;
Providing support to learners with course materials, assessments, and exercises;
Assisting with grading assignments and exams;
Being present during midterms and other examinations, if required;
Maintaining confidentiality in all course-related matters;
Treating all learners with respect and ensuring equitable support.
Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, you must:
Be a graduate student. Undergraduate students with proven, extensive, relevant technical experience may be considered.
Have prior, multiple, demonstrable, advanced, successful experiences in:
The coordination and management of all technical aspects of live web sessions and online interactions in the context of an online course.
The preparation of and real time management of relevant software and tools.
The use of the MS Office Suite, including Teams, Forms and related online and interactive tools, as well as Sharepoint in performing the above.
You preferably have:
A training related to technology-enhanced learning or pedagogy supported by digital platforms and tools.
A degree and/or are enrolled in law, political science, parliamentary affairs, public administration, international cooperation for sustainable development or other fields relevant to the main content of the course.
Completed courses in international human rights law or gender equality.

You must have
A good command of the English language.

Strong communication and diplomatic skills
Given the seniority of participants and guest speakers — including Members of Parliament, Senators, and senior representatives from the United Nations — proven communication and diplomatic skills are essential. Experience engaging with international organizations and/or senior management in public institutions is a strong asset.
