Overview

The Enterprise Central Scheudling Associate is responsible for accurately scheduling hospital tests and procedures as outlined by regulatory policies and protocols as requested by physician offices and UnityPoint Health ancillary departments in a customer-focused and compassionate manner. The Central Scheduling Associate is expected to review and obtain current patient information for established and new patients including demographic and insurance data. In addition, this position will be responsible for accurately recording all patient information into electronic health records, identify payer source and verify insurance eligibility, reviews scheduling system for needed updated demographics and consent forms, screen physician orders to ensure compliance under UnityPoint ordering requirements as well as compliance with established regional and enterprise protocol guidelines. This position will support multiple markets across the UnityPoint Health enterprise.

Location: Remote - the first week will be onsite at one of the UPH facilities.

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm

What are team member vaccine requirements?

Responsibilities

  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently with multi-line phone systems to accommodate high volume of phone calls to ensure customer service needs are met and align with system metric benchmarks
  • Ability to schedule across multiple markets within the Enterprise and possess an understanding of protocol variances across all departments
  • Accurately schedules appropriate appointments/ tests in the appropriate order within electronic health record (EHR) system while ensuring that all resources are coordinated (room, nurse, provider)
  • Provide information on proper preparation for exam as well as assignment of date, time, coordination of arrival information as per location guidelines and appropriate campus (when applicable)
  • Enter/verify accurate demographic and insurance information into EHR and collection of minimum data set information in accordance with Financial Clearance and Federal compliance standards
  • Possess basic knowledge of screening and diagnostic testing
  • Collaborate with departments and ordering physicians when scheduling to review testing for appropriate protocols
  • Consistently utilizes protocol for urgent testing needs as dictated by provider and performing departments
  • Obtain and input accurate demographic and insurance data to ensure accuracy
  • Ensures accuracy of data collection by resolving registration errors as assigned by work queues
  • Understands and communicates the required patient benefit information
  • Follows collection and financial clearance policies and procedures
