Our client, a global organization with operations across the EU, is seeking an experienced Fractional DPO to provide independent, GDPR-compliant advisory support. This is a part-time, contract-based opportunity ideal for a seasoned DPO—preferably with experience engaging German regulators—who can support local management on DPIAs, DSARs, and new technology rollouts, particularly those impacting worker privacy. The role involves minimal but meaningful work: attending monthly update calls, advising on privacy initiatives, liaising with supervisory authorities when needed, and ensuring Article 39 compliance. Candidates must be based in Europe or East Coast U.S., and this role is fully remote. Candidates with strong DPO experience will be considered first.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides independent advice on data protection and privacy matters in accordance with GDPR and other applicable laws
Serves as a key point of contact for local management and employee representative bodies, particularly when introducing new technologies or services that may impact employee privacy
Participates in co-determination procedures where required, offering input to support privacy compliance and organizational alignment
Leads or supports GDPR awareness initiatives and delivers training to staff across departments
Reviews and advises on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for high-risk processing activities
Supports the organization in responding to Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), ensuring timely, compliant, and well-documented responses
Acts as the primary liaison with supervisory authorities for each relevant legal entity, managing regulatory communications, including investigations and complaints
