Young Voices’ mission is to cultivate the next generation of thought leaders for liberty in policy, journalism, and academia. Founded in 2013, Young Voices serves as a copy editor, agent, and mentor to a roster of 100+ pro-liberty communicators through our cornerstone Contributor Program every year. Young Voices achieves a level of media output that surpasses organizations several times our size, placing 150+ media hits per month in print, radio, and TV. Our writers (whom we call “contributors”) make the principled case for liberty in mainstream and evolving media to millions of persuadable readers. Young Voices is also the host organization for the Dissident Project, a speakers bureau for U.S. immigrants who escaped tyranny to tell their stories before high school classrooms across the country. This past school year, Dissident held 50+ talks before 10,000+ students.
About the Role
Young Voices is seeking a seasoned and strategic Director of Development to lead our fundraising efforts and ensure the long-term sustainability of our mission. This role is responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive development strategy that includes individual giving, major gifts, foundation support, donor communications, and stewardship. The Director of Development will report directly to the Executive Director and play a key leadership role in organizational planning and growth. This is a unique opportunity for a self-driven, mission-aligned professional to make a significant impact in a growing nonprofit dedicated to promoting liberty through media.
This position is full-time and based in Washington, DC, with flexibility for remote work up to two days per week. Exceptional candidates may be considered for fully remote work outside of the DC area.

Responsibilities
Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including annual giving, major donor cultivation, foundation grants, and planned giving.
Manage a portfolio of current and prospective donors, cultivating relationships through personalized communication, events, and regular engagement.
Collaborate with the Executive Director to identify funding opportunities and set short-and long-term revenue goals.
Oversee the creation of compelling donor materials, including proposals, reports, newsletters, and appeals.
Coordinate donor stewardship efforts, ensuring timely thank-yous, updates, and recognition of gifts.
Research and pursue new grant opportunities; prepare and submit grant applications and reports.
Maintain accurate records and reports using donor management software.
Plan and execute donor events, both virtual and in-person, to deepen engagement and expand our supporter base.
Represent Young Voices at development-related events, networking opportunities, and meetings with funders.
Collaborate closely with communications and program staff to align fundraising messaging with organizational priorities and public-facing initiatives.
Requirements
3+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, including demonstrated success with major gifts, grants, and individual giving campaigns.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft compelling donor messaging.
Experience using donor databases or CRM systems for tracking and strategy. (HubSpot experience is a plus.)
Proven ability to build relationships with donors, stakeholders, and colleagues.
Strategic thinker with excellent organizational and project management skills.
Deep understanding and commitment to Young Voices’ mission and pro-liberty values.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment.
