  • Provide 24/7 support and assist in training other support groups on service issue resolution.

General Summary:

The Sr. Data Center Operations Engineer applies advanced professional-level technical skill and judgment to provide non-routine, complex technical support for computer/data center operations. This role is responsible for leading implementation of equipment deployment into Syniverse managed datacenters to include equipment placement, power and network cabling. This role maintains access control, data integrity and file system security for the computer/data center environment. Some of What You'll Do

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead implementation of equipment deployment into Syniverse managed datacenters (including equipment placement, power, and network cabling). 
• Ensure Syniverse maintains a safe production environment, advise on scheduling as needed.
• Own production issue resolution, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
• Own accuracy of data contained in the DCIM and Nlyte tools.
• Create and maintain detailed connectivity and as-built documentation.
• Lead troubleshooting and fixing assigned incidents, such as:
o Moderate to complex server and network installation issues.
o Moderate to complex cabling issues.
o Moderate to complex hardware issues.
• Lead implementation of hardware based on standards and best practices within the data center.
• Organize, rack and stack, report on, and manage power needs.
• Own maintenance of equipment sites for proper appearance and operation.
• Define, coordinate, and perform routine and preventative maintenance procedures for equipment sites .
• Manage logistics, transportation, and asset management of data center devices.
• Prepare and implement MOPs for upgrading, adding, changing or removing hardware or software to network devices.
• Own server creation and build out of network architecture .
• Lead Data Center migration efforts, as needed.
• Own effective response and communication to user requests and incidents within agreed timeframes.
• Provide assistance and training to other support groups in evaluating and resolving service issues.
• Provide 24 X 7 support as required.


Job Requirements:

• 5+ years’ experience performing infrastructure asset management for a large enterprise or experience in a technical role that supported infrastructure management.
• Strong in Microsoft Office applications.
• DCIM or Nlyte tools experience.
• Strong problem solving skills .
• Proactive approach and continuous improvement mindset.
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
• A+, Network+
• Hardware vendor certification (Dell, HP, etc…).
• Qualification in data center infrastructure resource management systems, associated processes or similar or a technical qualification.
• Any of the following certifications:
    - Certified Data Center Professional (CDCP).
    - Certified Data Center Specialist (CDCS).
    - Certified Data Center Facilities Operations Manager (CDFOM).
