Herzum is seeking a skilled and motivated DevOps Consultant to join our team and support one of our Clients in working on the Big Data Analytics Platform (BDAP). The role involves contributing to the design, implementation, deployment, and management of systems and services on the BDAP infrastructure, including potential deployment in public cloud environments.
We are particularly looking for someone who can set up cloud-native services in the BDAP platform, and who is comfortable working on server and VM deployment and automation.
Key Responsibilities:
Define and manage procedures for deploying information systems and processing services using Kubernetes.
Set up and manage CI/CD pipelines for data processing and analysis, integrating with the JRC DevOps platform.
Assist scientific users in configuring and deploying Kubernetes-based processing services.
Support the deployment of Linux nodes on new hardware.
Test processing environment deployments in public cloud systems.
Document all work, including configurations, routines, and scripts, in the project wiki and code repositories.
Required Skills:
Strong experience with Linux environments (RedHat/CentOS, Debian/Ubuntu), including Bash and Python scripting.
Proficient in deploying systems and services using Foreman and Ansible.
Solid knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes orchestration.
Experience with CI/CD automation tools (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.).
Familiarity with Proxmox.
Experience deploying services in commercial cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) or OpenStack-based clouds.
Non-Technical Skills:
Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality results with minimal supervision.
Experience working in multicultural and international teams.
Work mode: remote or onsite in Ispra (VA).
