Job description

Job Title: Accounting & Admin Assistant

Location: Remote

Start Date: Immediate

Job Type: Full-Time (40 hours per week)

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting and Admin Assistant to support our finance and administrative team. This role combines basic accounting responsibilities with general administrative duties to ensure the smooth operation of day-to-day office functions. The ideal candidate will assist with bookkeeping tasks, manage records, handle correspondence, and provide support in financial reporting and office management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain financial records for the company, including bookkeeping, payroll, and accounts payable/receivable
  • Review client data files and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial information
  • Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) and other relevant tax returns in compliance with Australian taxation laws
  • Monitor financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and company policies
  • Assist in budget preparation, financial forecasting, and cash flow management
  • Provide financial advice and insights to management to support strategic decision-making
  • Perform bank and account reconciliations
  • Maintain an up-to-date general ledger and assist with monthly/quarterly reporting
  • Manage general office duties including answering calls, responding to emails, and maintaining filing systems
  • Support document preparation, internal communications, and reporting tasks

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Bookkeeping or related field (preferred)
  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within an Australian business environment
  • Solid knowledge of Australian tax laws, especially related to BAS, GST, and payroll
  • Proficient in accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, or QuickBooks
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively
