Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Full Stack DBA / Developer & Manager with expertise in Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in database management, query optimization, and integration development, working closely with development teams to ensure the performance, reliability, and scalability of our database systems. Additionally, this role includes managerial responsibilities, ensuring proper documentation, process standardization, and coordination among teams.
This position requires availability for off-hours and potential weekend support as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Responsibilities:
Database Management: Manage, maintain, and optimize Oracle, PostgreSQL (including EDB Postgres Advanced Server), and MySQL databases to ensure high performance, availability, and security.
Query Optimization: Analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize SQL queries and database performance to improve system efficiency.
Integration Development: Build and manage integrations between database systems and various applications, ensuring smooth data flow and minimal downtime.
Collaboration with Development Teams: Work alongside software engineers to design, develop, and implement scalable solutions that meet business needs. Provide expert guidance on data modeling, schema design, and database integration strategies.
Automation & Scripting: Develop automation scripts for database operations, backups, and deployments to streamline workflows.
Problem Solving: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve database issues, ensuring minimal disruption to the development lifecycle.
Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation on database structures, integrations, and best practices.
Managerial Responsibilities:
Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage database administrators and developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Process Improvement: Define and enforce database best practices, standard operating procedures, and policies to enhance database security, performance, and compliance.
Documentation Oversight: Ensure all database architectures, integrations, and optimizations are well-documented and kept up-to-date for knowledge sharing and compliance.
Cross-Team Coordination: Act as a bridge between DBA teams, software engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment of database solutions with business objectives.
Project Management: Oversee database-related projects, ensuring timely delivery, quality assurance, and adherence to industry best practices.
Risk Management: Evaluate and mitigate database risks, ensuring effective disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
Stakeholder Communication: Provide regular reports and updates on database performance, enhancements, and potential risks to leadership and other key stakeholders.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Expertise in Oracle, PostgreSQL (including EDB Postgres Advanced Server), and MySQL with a deep understanding of their architecture, performance tuning, and best practices.
Strong experience with SQL, query optimization, indexing, and database design.
Experience in building and maintaining integrations between databases and other software platforms.
Strong scripting skills in languages like Python, Bash, or Shell for automation tasks.
Ability to work with development teams to design efficient data-driven applications.
Knowledge of database security, backup strategies, and disaster recovery processes.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams.
Proven experience managing teams and ensuring collaboration between DBAs and developers.
Ability to enforce documentation standards and drive process improvement initiatives.
Availability for off-hours and potential weekend support.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
Familiarity with NoSQL databases and data warehousing concepts.
Knowledge of version control tools like Git.
Previous experience in a managerial role leading DBA and developer teams.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a DBA or developer role with strong database experience.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a managerial role overseeing database administration and development.
Proven track record of successfully optimizing and maintaining large-scale databases and integrations.
The base salary range for this role is $115,900 to $173,800. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary range for this position. Actual base salary offered will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance.
