Role Overview:
As an Operations Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful deployment and functionality of our operational intelligence platform. From managing installation projects to resolving technical issues, your expertise in project coordination, troubleshooting, and network programming will drive seamless integration and operation of our electrical, gas, and water meters and other devices. This role requires a proactive approach to project management, a commitment to maintaining high standards of data accuracy, and the ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Coordination
- Supervise and coordinate third-party site survey and ensure a quality survey plan is delivered.
- Review the initial project scope to ensure the required hardware is properly specified and accounted for.
- Remotely project-manage the installation of digital electrical, gas, and water meters, communicating with field contractors via phone and email.
- Coordinate with project engineers, hardware engineers, and others to ensure project milestones are met on time and within scope.
- Coordinate via email and/or phone call and execution of hardware installation, ensuring that the right equipment is delivered to the right people.
- Use project management tools to update progress, resolve issues, and generate tasks for outstanding items, ensuring they are followed through to completion
- Work with project engineers, hardware engineers, and project managers to ensure installation has reached completion
- Complete equipment setup by properly allocating sensor data using cloud-based software
- Handle price negations and communicate with clients.
- Quality Assurance & Troubleshooting
- Use software tools to set up and verify device configuration
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve installation-related issues remotely or guide team on site with clear instructions
- Use software tools to configure and verify device settings for optimal performance
- Perform remote quality assurance (QA) checks on new installations, including data integrity and equipment setup.
- Progress Reporting:
- Regularly communicate project status, progress, and updates to internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines
- Serving as the main point of contact for customers during project execution, providing timely updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring satisfaction with the installation process
- Process Optimization
- Identify inefficiencies in project workflows and recommend improvements to streamline operations
- Maintain updated project documentation and communicate progress to internal stakeholders
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in hardware troubleshooting
- Engineering degree
- Excellent written and verbal English proficiency
- Ability to execute English instructions effectively and troubleshoot when necessary
- Effective English communication skills, with the ability to describe technical terms to non-technical personnel, including customers
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience
- Basic software familiarity with programming languages is required
- Basic understanding of wired ethernet and wireless cellular telecommunication devices is required
- Knowledge of network programming and command line interfaces is required
Nice-to-Haves: - Remote troubleshooting is a plus
- Understanding of metering infrastructure is a plus
- Electrical engineering degree is preferred
- Mechanical with electrical experience also possible
- Electric-adjacent careers in electronics
