Solarwinds Monitoring Engineer

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled SolarWinds Monitoring Engineer to join our IT Operations team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience deploying, configuring, and managing SolarWinds Orion Platform and integrating it with ServiceNow for automated incident creation and streamlined ITSM workflows. You will play a key role in ensuring proactive infrastructure monitoring, reducing downtime, and improving service reliability across our enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain monitoring solutions using SolarWinds Orion, including NPM, SAM, NTA, and other relevant modules.
• Configure and optimize alerts, dashboards, reports, and templates to align with organizational needs.
• Develop and maintain integration between SolarWinds and ServiceNow, including automated ticketing and incident escalation.
• Troubleshoot performance issues across network, server, application, and cloud environments.
• Work with cross-functional teams (Network, Systems, Cloud, Security) to onboard new devices and services into the monitoring ecosystem.
• Maintain proper documentation for monitoring configurations, integrations, and standard operating procedures.
• Support IT compliance, audit, and incident response processes with relevant monitoring data and historical logs.
• Recommend improvements for observability, alert accuracy, and proactive detection strategies.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience working with SolarWinds Orion Platform (e.g., NPM, SAM, NTA, etc.).
• Proven experience integrating SolarWinds with ServiceNow, including REST APIs, webhooks, and SNMP traps.
• Strong understanding of ITIL-based incident and change management.
• Proficient in PowerShell, SQL, or scripting tools for automation and data extraction.
• Experience monitoring hybrid environments, including on-prem infrastructure and cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to system reliability.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• SolarWinds Certified Professional (SCP) certification.
• Experience with ServiceNow ITOM, Discovery, or Event Management modules.
• Familiarity with other monitoring tools (e.g., PRTG, Nagios, Dynatrace, etc.).
• Exposure to DevOps or CI/CD pipelines and monitoring practices.
