Job description

As Senior Manager, Global Health Policy & Advocacy (m/f/d), you will play an important part in supporting GSK Global Health’s engagement with relevant stakeholders. You will help navigate external developments impacting GSK Global Health, build stakeholder relationships, and tell GSK’s story effectively to global health audiences.

The role will be based in GSK Global Health team and report the Lead for Global Health Policy & Advocacy and Geneva Advocacy. It will involve working collaboratively with colleagues across Global Health team and the wider GSK business, including other corporate and government affairs teams.  The purpose of the role is to support the delivery of GSK’s Global Health objectives, including improving the operating environment for global health R&D and access strategies and support business solutions for lower income countries.

You will be driven, a quick learner and intellectually curious with a passion for global health and enjoy the challenge of finding solutions and working across multiple projects and deliverables. You will be agile, responsive and comfortable navigating an evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Global Health Stakeholder Engagement

  • Support Global Health policy and advocacy work related to key external global health stakeholders, including Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and Global Fund for Aids, TB and Malaria, NGOs, governments etc.
  • Support the engagement of external stakeholders to build relationships and ensure an operating environment for GSK supply and to meet Global Health objectives.
  • Review policy papers and draft briefing documents for key stakeholder engagements

External Insights

  • Attend external events and meetings to gain relevant insights.
  • Monitor and communicate important developments in the global health landscape, including through maintenance of a policy tracker
  • Conduct research on key topics and support development of GSK’s global health policy positions and briefs

Broader responsibilities

  • Input into pipeline asset and product access planning by sharing relevant strategic insights from external environment
  • Organise meetings of relevant internal teams to share insights and plans
  • Organise internal coordination and integrated planning meetings for external global health policy and advocacy activities.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience working in / with key global health organizations, including an understanding of global health governance processes and operating environment.
  • Experience of external affairs, including successfully delivering engagement strategies.
  • Self starter who is willing to take on responsibility and results driven
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator. Builds relationships of trust with external stakeholders.
  • Able to work on multiple priorities, agile and responsive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Previous involvement in cross functional matrixed environment with multiple internal stakeholders
  • Strategic and flexible thinking - proactively seeks to understand views of others and develop solutions. Translates insights into sound analysis and advice to the business.
  • Fluent in English both speaking and written. Knowledge of French would be beneficial.

Specific Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of global health and pharmaceutical policy, R&D, market access and/or uptake of medicines in lower income countries.
  • Knowledge of geo-political, economic and social issues and trends, healthcare systems and policies as well as audiences (national governments, multilateral institutions, NGOs, patients, industry groups, etc.)
