Job description

 

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced finance professional to join an international project team on an exciting finance transformation project within Global Specialty Insurance (GSI). As part of the project team, you will play a pivotal role in driving the future of GSI financial reporting, working closely with the CFOs and their respective teams to build a finance reporting structure that is agile, scalable, and adaptable to changing regulatory environments. This team will drive the design and implementation of new processes, systems, and tools, leveraging technology and innovation to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency of GSI results.

 

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work with multiple finance teams across US, Canada, and Europe to synthesize complex issues into simple workstreams. A successful candidate will demonstrate their ability to work autonomously, organizing one's work toward successful completion of clearly defined milestones they will have contributed to identify and syndicate. The combination of both strong communication skills, data management experience and technical competency in insurance accounting, data analytics, process improvements and optimization techniques is required for the role.

 

The role will report into a member of the GSI Finance Transformation Team led by Angela Homm and will interact daily with the finance leadership teams across GSI and Munich Re.

 

This is a full-time project role with a minimum commitment of 24 months; travel up to 25%.

 

The location is flexible.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

Design and Development of Actuarial Calculations:

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and design actuarial calculations for the new FDL and ERP system.

- Lead the development of actuarial models and data workflows to ensure seamless integration with the new systems.

 

Data Architecture and Governance:

- Ensure data integrity, quality, and consistency across the new FDL and ERP system.

- Collaborate with data architects to design and implement a scalable data architecture that supports actuarial calculations.

 

Testing and Quality Assurance:

- Collaborate with testing teams to develop and execute test plans for actuarial calculations.

-Ensure that actuarial calculations meet quality and accuracy standards.
 
Qualifications include:

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree: In a related field such as Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Business Administration.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience: In a related field, with at least 3-5 years of experience in an actuarial or financial analysis role in the insurance industry.
  • Oracle Cloud ERP experience: Experience with Oracle Cloud ERP, including Oracle Financials Cloud, Oracle Procurement Cloud, and Oracle Accounting Hub Cloud.
  • Actuarial knowledge: Knowledge of actuarial principles, including probability, statistics, and financial mathematics, as well as experience with actuarial models and techniques.
  • Insurance operations knowledge: Knowledge of insurance operations, including policy administration, claims management, and reinsurance, as well as experience with insurance accounting and regulatory requirements.
  • US, UK, and German insurance market knowledge: Familiarity with the US, UK, and German insurance markets, including regulatory requirements, industry standards, and market trends.
  • Financial reporting and analysis: Experience with financial reporting and analysis, including financial statement preparation, financial planning, and financial performance analysis.
  • Data analysis and interpretation: Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret large datasets to inform business decisions.

 

Desirable:

  • Master's degree: In a related field, such as Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Business Administration.
  • Actuarial certifications: Certifications like Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS), Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS), or Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary (CERA) are beneficial. Equivalent from other countries acceptable as well.
  • Oracle Cloud ERP certifications: Certifications like Oracle Cloud ERP Financials Cloud Certified Implementation Specialist or Oracle Cloud ERP Procurement Cloud Certified Implementation Specialist are beneficial.
  • Insurance industry certifications: Certifications like Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), or Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (FIA) are beneficial.
  • Cloud-based ERP experience: Experience with cloud-based ERP platforms, including Oracle Cloud, SAP Cloud, or Workday, and familiarity with cloud-based ERP services, such as financial planning, accounting, and procurement.
  • Data visualization tools: Proficiency in data visualization tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, or D3.js, and experience with creating interactive dashboards and reports.
  • Programming languages: Familiarity with programming languages, such as SQL, Python, or R, and experience with data manipulation and analysis libraries.
  • Agile methodologies: Experience with Agile project management methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, and familiarity with iterative and incremental development approaches.
  • Actuarial model development: Experience with developing actuarial models, including pricing models, reserving models, and capital models.
  • Actuarial data analysis: Experience with analyzing actuarial data, including claim frequency, claim severity, and policyholder behavior.
  • Actuarial reporting and compliance: Knowledge of actuarial reporting requirements, including regulatory reporting, financial statement preparation, and compliance reporting.
  • Actuarial data governance: Experience with actuarial data governance, including data ownership, data stewardship, and data quality management.
  • US, UK, and German insurance regulations: 
  • US insurance regulations: Familiarity with US insurance regulations, including the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) requirements.
