Job description

The Linear Motion Division (“LMD”) of AMC is seeking a Senior Director of Global Operations. Reporting to the VP/GM of the Division, this growth-focused leader will lead operations across 9 plants located across the United States, Mexico, St. Kitts, Sweden, Germany & China, and be a key member of the division leadership team.

Within each site, this leader will drive the discipline of SQDC (safety, quality, delivery, cost-competitiveness) and lean transformation, to allow the division to grow top line revenue growth and bottom line profitability.  They will develop and implement long and short-term strategic plans, drive significant plant Key Performance Indicator (KPI) improvements, drive a culture of Continuous Improvement – all with the intent of increasing throughput and productivity.

Location: This role is remote + up to 75% travel

Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence & Effective Problem Solving

  • Lead the Division operations team to deliver on Annual Operating Plan (AOP), monthly, quarterly, and annual targets.
  • Set and achieve short and long-term SQDCG and financial objectives by implementing a strategic vision that is broken into actionable strategies and tactics. Direct activities across all plants, providing leadership to Production, Quality, Purchasing, Human Resources and Finance.  Knows what ‘world-class’ looks like and has the ability to coach and develop a leadership team.
  • Ensure accountability and enable the predictability of the outcomes of each plant.  Determine root cause of delivery, quality or other issues quickly and effectively put counter-measures in place to support. 
  • Skill and experience in decomposing a strategic vision into actionable strategies and plans, that can be cascaded to every manufacturing facility.  Drive a continuous improvement mindset, with clear future factory visions, to significantly improve productivity and efficiency across all plants and drive employee engagement.
  • Establish and sustain strong plant floor visual and daily management, GEMBA culture, and problem solving methodologies.

P&L Leadership and Business Partnership

  • Ability to work as a member of the leadership team to develop and communicate a future vision for the business.
  • Build strong knowledge of operations P&L at plants and how each KPI affects P&L levers.
  • Responsible for synthesizing action plans, timelines and budgets for project and product goals and adjusting these plans accordingly to effectively respond to changing demands of the business.

Talent Management

  • Develop a high-performance team by engaging, coaching and developing team members, and by driving accountability and ownership at all levels.  Build a team where all site leaders are top talent, with a strong say/do and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Establish a results-oriented management style that measures and evaluates individual performance against clearly defined accountable competencies, responsibilities and objectives
  • Serve as an advocate for top talent, building strong succession plans to enable increased career velocity.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an Accredited University
  • 10+ years manufacturing operations experience; including plant management with experience from a best-in-class manufacturer.
  • Experience with manufacturing of highly engineered components
  • Proven successful applications of multiple CI tools: 80/20, Value Stream Mapping, 6S, Flow, Standard Work, Visual Management, & Problem Solving
  • Strong operational and financial acumen, executive presence, and the ability to lead multiple locations
  • Critical thinking skills to properly identify problem area & potential solutions

  • Candidate is required to be a U.S. person as defined by ITAR compliance (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident)
  • Must be able to travel at least 50% of the time domestically and internationally as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MS Engineering, MBA, etc.)
  • Multi-Site Management Experience
  • Global Management Experience
  • General Management Experience
  • Experience with High Mix / Low Volume and Low Mix / High Volume manufacturing
  • Prior experiencing with crafting operations fulfillment strategy and with production line / value stream transfers.
  • Experience in working with 80/20, Policy Deployment methodologies

Expected salary: $200,000 - $230,000 annually + incentives. The salary range provided is intended to display the value of the company's base pay compensation for all statewide locations across the United States. Salary is dependent on a multitude of factors, including but not limited to the physical worksite location, candidate's skill set, level of experience, education, and internal peer compensation comparisons.
