This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dedicated team who focus on inspecting 3rd party plumbing systems to ensure compliance with the Water Fittings Regulations are met.  You will play an essential part in helping to engage and educate plumbers, house builders, manufacturers, consultants, and customers on the risks associated to poor plumbing practices. The significance of the work you will carry out as a Water Fittings Technician makes this such an exciting and vital department to be a part of.

LET’S TELL YOU MORE 
 
Working as a plumbing inspector within the Water Quality & Environment  Department you will be allocated a specific set of responsibilities, however these tasks can change daily, so you must be fluid and be able to adapt quickly to apply yourself to the task at hand. 

You will oversee and prioritise the work planned for you, which involves contacting premises directly to arrange plumbing inspections. The types of premises you will inspect can vary from public buildings, industrial, commercial, agricultural and new construction sites.   
 
As part of the team, you will undertake both proactive and reactive inspections and where necessary enforce the Regulations to ensure the premise(s) comply with their legal obligations. 
 
As the Regulator for our region, your role will require you to inspect plumbing systems to help prevent the waste, misuse, erroneous measurement, undue consumption, and contamination of the drinking water supply. 
 
Not only will we want you to be great at carry out plumbing inspections, but you will also be contacting customers directly to arrange appointments and to explain the process involved before, during and after the inspection.  Being able to clearly communicate with people through verbal and written methods shall be essential as well as having the ability to record information in a reliable, accurate and complete manner. 
 
You will also receive information from other key stakeholders to ensure that we are fully equipped with the correct information to carry out the job.  This will involve the interpretation of information to provide root cause analysis on water quality issues, so the role is really varied. 

Location in the Birmingham or Shropshire.
 
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR 
 
 
You will need to have knowledge of plumbing systems due to the nature of the role.  You will also need to have good IT skills including knowledge of how to use Word, Excel and Outlook as all of our work is planned and updated using Microsoft systems.   

 

Experience in working with customers and the general public to help us to continue delivering a great customer service would be advantageous.
