What You Will Achieve 

The US Rare Disease – Cardiac Rare Regional Business Director (RBD) will be responsible for developing, coaching, and leading the Cardiac Rare Regional Sales Team that will deliver value to customers and achieve agreed upon sales objectives.  

This position works collaboratively with their RBD Partners, RD Sales Leadership Team, CFC Leadership Teams, KAM Teams, Field Medical, Marketing, HQ Sr Leadership and other HQ functions to meet the needs of our customers and the Cardiac Rare Cell Field Team. 

The RBD must inspire and focus their team by creating an inclusive “Patients First” culture and communicating a compelling vision of success in alignment with broader US Rare Disease Organization. 

How You Will Achieve It 

  • Provide strategic leadership to the Cardiac Rare Sales Organization in half of the US; Closely collaborate with RBD partners to lead an aligned national team and compliant execution of selling strategies to deliver expected business results. 
  • Hire, train, develop and lead a talented, highly engaged regional sales team that delivers optimal value to both customers and Pfizer. 
  • Cultivate an inclusive, collaborative Patients First Culture anchored in our Pfizer Values that ensures colleague engagement, commitment and talent retention. 
  • Ensure the growth, development and effectiveness of Area Business Managers and colleagues consistent with organizational expectations. 
  • Lead the sales process from POA to field execution and provide insights and leadership to inform Brand Teams and National Strategies. 
  • Develop Regional Business Plans (and oversee area and territory plan development) integrating insights from Brand Marketing, CMO Commercial Effectiveness Director, Cross Functional Teams and Regional field insights (ABMs/SHSSs) that will deliver expected results and/or objectives.  
  • Review selected performance/trend analysis/key customer data to assess regional and area performance and provide necessary coaching to change tactics, execution and/or strategy. 
  • Provide performance analysis and customer insights back to marketing, cross functional and HQ teams to help inform strategy development, prioritization, and resource allocation. 
  • Develop change agile organization to effectively and consistently deliver results in changing competitive market and economic landscapes. 
  • Proactively work with Sales Training and Marketing Teams to ensure effective sales/clinical training programs are developed and implemented. 
  • Manage, allocate, and optimize promotional spending, workload, targeting and promotional activity within the region to meet or exceed expected results and improve profitability. 
  • Establish and grow a network Key Customers, including Key Opinion Leaders, in the Rare Disease and Cardiology Market. 
  • Collaborate with Senior Sales Leadership, Customer Facing Colleague Leadership, Marketing, Compliance and Customer Enablement Team to develop and maintain an Incentive Compensation program that aligns to the brand operating plan while providing motivation for each member of the sales team. 
  • Continued innovation of the customer-facing commercial model, including refinement of sales representative role definition, tools, capabilities, and areas of focus to optimize field force effectiveness. 
  • Lead a culture of compliance & actively partner with sales leaders and legal team to ensure routine monitoring of promotional strategies.   

MUST-HAVE 

  • BA/BS Degree required with 15+ years of previous pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical marketing and/or sales experience preferred; Prior commercial and team leadership experience required; 
  • Previous leadership/ supervisory experience and ability to develop and motivate others, lead through change, and deliver on business imperatives 
  • Experience partnering effectively and compliantly with matrix cross functional customer facing teams and HQ functions (e.g. Marketing, Medical. Access, Legal) to ensure corporate objectives were developed and delivered in a customer and patient focused manner. 
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills are required with an ability to analyze and draw appropriate conclusions using sales data/call reporting software/applications 
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Proven ability to create and engaged culture, effectively manage performance and successfully develop talent to strengthen organization 
  • Strong understanding and experience with Pfizer's performance management process 
  • Proven track record of Sales Performance and exceeding organizational goals 

NICE-to-HAVE 

  • Prior Regional Business Management, Customer Facing or Strategic Commercial Leadership and/or 5+ District Business Management experience preferred 
  • Recent Rare Disease, Cardiology, Specialty Care experience highly preferred 
  • Current experience leading leaders highly preferred 
  • Experience managing large territories and diverse markets highly preferred 
  • Experience working with key thought leaders or high influence customers in large academic centers, IDNs, large group practices preferred.

  • Highly preferred that the candidate resides in/near the geography: East Coast which includes New England, NY Metro, Mid Atlantic, & Southeast Markets

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $204,700.00 to $341,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
