Summary / Role Purpose

The Senior Application Engineer (m/f/d) is responsible for leveraging advanced-level functional safety knowledge and relationships to help customers solving complex safety process problems using Ansys software and to support regional accounts with significant impact on software revenue. The role encompasses all the technical support of our customers, the provision of technical credibility in supporting sales campaigns and the delivery of professional services in customer engagements. The specialization is within the Functional Safety application group, with potentially cross-discipline solution aspects.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced safety process expertise and knowledge of functional safety and cyber security standards to provide highest level technical support to customers and Channel Partners, ensuring high-quality, timely customer service that results in improved customer satisfaction and productivity.
  • Own the customer problems, proactively engage with selected accounts to provide comprehensive functional safety and security solutions. Work independently and contribute to all technical activities throughout the sales opportunity lifecycle, interact with customers to understand their process and functional safety needs and articulate Ansys’ value proposition.
  • Instruct intermediate and/or advanced training classes. Scope and deliver professional services for projects which might include collaborative work with other field engineers in the same or different disciplines.
  • Gather customer requirements to support the improvement of Ansys software and collaborate with the Ansys product development teams to translate customer requirements into new product capabilities. Test new releases on industrial problems.
  • Participates in internal corporate initiatives to share knowledge and to create best practices, inside the discipline and cross-disciplines.

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Required education and degree type: MS in Functional Safety Engineering, Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or related field.
  • 3 years of experience as functional safety engineer or functional safety manager in a relevant industry domain.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety and/or security standards such as but not limited to ARP4761, ISO26262, IEC 61508, EN 50128/EN50657, MIL-STD-882, ISO 21434
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to facilitate and conduct webinars and presentations to customers and to large conference audience.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects which are complex in nature and across diverse teams and locations.
  • Demonstrated skills in writing and presenting in fluent English.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of time.
  • Strong ability to self-organize and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Ability to work independently in front of customers but also in a team centric environment.
  • Goal and result driven mindset.

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Knowledge of Ansys functional safety and security solutions (Ansys medini analyze)
  • Additional preferred requirements for the specific position being advertised: Experience using a specific Ansys software? Experience on a specific application / industrial field inside the engineering discipline? Additional language?
  • Demonstrated ability to understand business requirements and translate these into an execution plan that delivers value and meets business goals.
  • Preferred education and years of professional experience in an engineering software environment: BS+3, MS or PhD
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of time
