Job Description:

The General Ledger Analyst will be responsible for providing general ledger accounting services to various 3M subsidiaries. This person will also act as a subject matter expert for GL activities, specific to which country he/she may be assigned. The performance measures for this role will include service delivery and meeting SLA metrics, process improvement and compliance.

You will report to an accounting team lead and will be interacting with relevant parties in the country finance and GSC teams.  You may be asked to work in both legacy and SAP systems.

The responsibilities will include:

Generic Tasks GENERAL LEDGER:

• Assist on the Onboarding requirements specific to GL
• Review and Update of SOPs specific to GL
• Drive process alignment of specific to country assignment
• Identify and implement Process Simplification and Standardization specific to country assignment
• Spearhead the Deployment of new GL processes and process changes specific to country assignment
• Support Global Projects specific to GL Processes
• Back-up resource (act as back up for Analysts if there are movements within the team, GL Journals and Reconciliation Review and Approval)
• Act as First level of consultation involving GL processes specific to country assignment
• Conduct Training – GL process specific
• Act as an SME – GL process specific

GL CLOSING:

• Act as first point of consultation on any transmission errors
• Perform test Transmission runs and identify errors
• Coordinate resolution of transmission errors to respective parties (ICO, AR, IT, etc.)
• Perform Final Transmission of financials in Peoplesoft / BPC
• Provide 1st level of support or guidance for Analysts and Sr. Analysts
• Run and maintain Allocation set up for complex group of accounts and perform allocation issue resolution
• Maintain opening and closing of GL Module.

BALANCE SHEET ACCOUNTS RECONCILIATION:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual accounts reconciliations
• Identify and investigate variances, clean up ageing recon items
• Propose and/or implement solution to resolve aged open items

• Act as primary contact specific to country assignment (i.e. first point of consultation on variances, aged open items)
• May perform account reconciliation review
• Provide guidance to Associates and Analysts on any issues arising on BS Recon.

JOURNALS:

• Process Manual JVs requests (prepare JV Templates)
• Park JVs in SAP / S2K
• Ensure completeness of supporting docs of journals (i.e. basis for calculation, approvals, JV Templates, etc.)
• Prepare complex self-initiated journals
• Provide 1st level of support or guidance for Sr. Analysts, Analysts and Associates
• Perform operational accounting functions (i.e. OPEX journals).

CHART OF ACCOUNTS:

• Provide guidance to Associates on any issues concerning COA maintenance.

OPERATIONAL RHYTHM:

• (May) Participate in T1 and T2 Huddles
• Escalate issues occurring in the production floor
• May act as back up during T3 huddles
• Provide inputs to the End to End Specialists during Financial Statement Review, Account Balance Sheet Review and Post Close Review

SOX and COMPLIANCE:

• Assist in providing supporting documents requests from SOX / Auditors.
• May perform Monthly and Quarterly SOX Control Testing and Propose and Execute Remediation Plans specific to related Processes
• Coordinate, clarify and escalate as necessary any clarifications on control activities and control description to SOX Control Manager and Compliance.
• Provide guidance to Analysts and Sr. Analysts on the performance of control activities.
• Ensure processes follow the 3M Global Financial Standard, SOX, and other regulations.

OTHERS:

• Participate in process improvement activities ensuring continuous improvement and productivity (i.e. CIs, JDIs, etc.).
• Participate in projects, e.g. accounting centralization activities from the region, SAP deployment, etc.
• Updating of SOPs of the assigned tasks.

Basic Qualifications:

• Accounting degree and preferably with minimum 2-3 years relevant working experience in finance and accounting
• Working experience in shared service center is preferred
• CPA or equivalent qualification is a plus
• Fluent in English

• Ability to learn legacy system (AS400, PeopleSoft)

• Ability to work under pressure
