Senior AI Research Engineer (Responsible AI)

We're on the lookout for a Senior AI Research Engineer to take on a pivotal role in our team, working with Our biggest client. The Responsible AI team at eBay is committed to ensuring fairness, transparency, and accountability in AI systems. We work cross-functionally to embed Responsible AI principles into eBay's AI/ML models, providing tools, documentation, and best practices for ethical AI development.

What you will do:

• Analyze existing Responsible AI frameworks and best practices.
• Select and adapt the most suitable approach for our AI ecosystem.
• Document models and datasets.
• Evaluate models for explainability, fairness, safety, and compliance with RAI policies.
• Develop a dashboard for transparency, reporting, and visualization.
• Build automation tools for documentation and enforcing RAI compliance.
• Pilot the framework across AI projects and refine based on feedback.
• Support engineering teams in maintaining RAI efforts through self-service tools.
• Continuously update tools and workflows to align with industry best practices and regulations.
• Ensure compliance with AI governance policies and industry best practices.
• Partner with policy, research, and engineering teams to encode guidelines into measurable criteria.

Experience and skills you need to join us:

• Openness to working in the field of AI governance, responsible AI, or AI/ML model documentation and further expanding your knowledge of these topics.
  
• Strong research capabilities and experience in applied research.
  
• Software development and coding skills: Python, clean code, algorithms and data structures.
  
• Knowledge of machine learning: AI/ML libraries, fundamental problems in ML modeling, types of modeling, popular models, ways of evaluating the models, explainable AI etc.
  
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working across teams.
• Fluency in Polish and English (you will attend meetings with English speaking clients).

It would be great if you also have:

• Computer science-related PhD with at least 3 years of relevant industry experience.
  
• Exposure to generative AI evaluation techniques.
  
• Experience in building and/or maintaining systems consisting of multiple AI models.
• Familiarity with building data pipelines and related topics.
