Wage Range: $26.91 - $43.05 per hour
Remote in Washington State only
Posted wage ranges represent the entire range from minimum to maximum. For jobs with more than one level, the posted range reflects the minimum of the lowest level and the maximum of the highest level. Some positions also offer additional premiums based on shift, certifications, or degrees. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, level of education and internal equity.
Job Summary:
As an integral part of the EvergreenHealth Revenue Cycle, the Certified Coder-NC reviews medical documentation and charges within Epic EHR and using Optum 360 Encoder assigns (or verifies) ICD-10-CM/PCS codes, CPT/HCPCS codes and charges.
Primary Duties:
1. Triages/prioritizes discharged patient accounts within Epic WQ system and determines which accounts should be given greater emphasis for timely coding.
2. Reviews documentation/charges in accordance with the patient account type (i.e. Inpatient, Observation, ED, Home Health, Clinic, etc.) and appropriately assigns ICD-10 / CPT / HCPCS codes. Ensures that codes reflect the patient’s correct diagnoses and treatments rendered with an appropriate level of detail, are consistent with payor policies, and are consistent with coding guidelines and conventions.
3. Completes coding work at a rate that exceeds minimum productivity standards for the type of account coded.
4. Troubleshoots coding problems using online resources, teammates, or Senior Coding Analyst.
5. Receives feedback on payor denials and learns how to avoid future denials by incorporating continuous learning.
6. Understands Revenue Cycle priorities to achieve Revenue Cycle goals.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.
License, Certification, Education or Experience:
REQUIRED for the position:
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• CPC, CCS-P, CCS, Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
• Experience in CPT and/or ICD-10 coding and documentation in facility setting.
DESIRED for the position:
• 3 years coding experience working in an acute or ambulatory facility care setting.
