Work Schedule: 
  • (20 hours/week) - Anytime during Australian central time work day 8am-8pm

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled bookkeeper to take ownership of both a comprehensive financial reconciliation project and ongoing bookkeeping responsibilities. The initial phase involves a full-time engagement to complete a significant catch-up project, utilizing Xero to establish robust financial foundations. Following this, the role transitions to a permanent part-time position where you’ll maintain the financial health of this growing construction business. You’ll work directly with the business owner, leveraging modern cloud-based accounting tools while ensuring compliance with Australian taxation requirements and ASIC regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a comprehensive financial reconciliation project, including historical transaction processing and systematic organization of financial records
  • Implement and maintain proper Xero accounting structures and procedures
  • Process and categorize daily financial transactions with high attention to detail
  • Prepare and maintain accurate balance sheets for ASIC compliance
  • Manage GST calculations, reporting, and compliance
  • Reconcile bank statements and maintain accurate financial records
  • Cross-reference existing financial data with banking records to ensure completeness
  • Provide regular updates on financial status and reconciliation progress
  • Establish efficient bookkeeping processes for ongoing operations
Requirements
  • Proven experience with Australian accounting practices and tax legislation
  • Xero certification or demonstrated advanced proficiency
  • Strong understanding of GST requirements and calculations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ASIC compliance and reporting standards
  • Demonstrated experience in construction industry accounting (preferred)
  • Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Proven track record of managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Experience with bank reconciliations and financial data organization
