Job description

As an assistant general counsel – privacy & regulatory attorney in our Corporate Legal Department, you’ll be on a team supporting our Strategy Group efforts. In this role, you’ll provide counsel concerning privacy matters related to company operations stemming from Level20, Progressive’s in-house business incubator, and assist with diligence and integration matters for potential acquisitions. You’ll focus on compliance with federal and state privacy laws impacting the financial services sector, including the insurance and FinTech industries. You’ll also coordinate regulatory research, analysis, and counseling to ensure compliant handling and use of company data and personal information. Additionally, you’ll collaborate and coordinate with privacy lawyers supporting the business’s traditional businesses.

Must Have Qualifications

  • Juris doctor degree or Master of Laws (LLM) and a minimum of eight years of post-degree legal practice experience
  • Active license to practice law in at least one state; active or corporate license in state where working (or eligible to be)

Preferred Skills

  • Significant experience with federal and state privacy laws, including GLBA, FCRA, and CCPA, and financial services regulations including those related to UDAAP, fair credit/lending, and payments
  • Experience with due diligence reviews and integration efforts for mergers and acquisitions
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills, including the ability to simplify and effectively communicate complex legal issues to business stakeholders
  • Strong planning, prioritizing, and organizing skills, including the ability to effectively manage multiple matters simultaneously and identify, mitigate, and resolve legal and compliance exposures
  • CIPP certification

Compensation

  • $141,100 -201,500/year
  • Gainshare annual cash incentive payment up to 50% of your eligible earnings based on company performance
  • Eligible to participate in our restricted stock units program
