Newsweek is seeking a highly skilled and creative Senior Video Editor to join our team and create engaging, branded video content for Newsweek events. Your primary objective will be to deliver top-notch production quality and ensure the seamless execution of pre-event promos and one awards video, impressing both our sponsors and stakeholders with outstanding results. This is a contract position starting as soon as possible.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Edit and assemble raw footage into polished, compelling videos for various platforms, including digital, broadcast, and social media. 
  • Collaborate with producers, directors, and other team members to establish project timelines and creative direction. 
  • Incorporate music, sound effects, graphics, and visual effects to enhance storytelling and overall production quality. 
  • Ensure video content aligns with brand guidelines, project goals, and audience preferences. 
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging editing techniques to continuously improve the quality of work. 
  • Oversee the post-production workflow, including color grading, audio mastering, and quality control. 
  • Manage and archive video assets and project files in an organized and accessible manner. 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Senior Video Editor or similar role, with an impressive portfolio showcasing diverse video projects. 
  • Proficiency in industry-standard video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve). 
  • Familiarity with AI video editing tools, such as Opus Clip, CapCut, etc. 
  • Strong understanding of storytelling, pacing, and visual composition. 
  • Solid knowledge of color correction, sound editing, and visual effects integration. 
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to work under tight deadlines. 
  • A collaborative mindset and strong communication skills. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in creative video editing, with a focus on sizzle reels and promo video 
  • Experience producing and editing branded and promotional video content for sponsors and clients, creating sizzle reels, editing raw footage 
  • Managing all aspects of video projects from concept development to final delivery. 
  • Strong communication skills to convey vision to the team and clients. 
  • Keen eye for detail and a strong sense of creativity. 
  • Ability to conceptualize and execute visually compelling content that aligns with the brand’s message and objectives. 
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work under tight deadlines. 
  • Understanding of and adherence to copyright laws, licensing, and permissions related to video production. 
  • Able to start immediately. 
  • Excellent written and spoken English; flexibility in working hours. 

Desirables 

  • Familiarity with live-streaming production or multi-camera editing.  
  • Experience with motion graphics/animation, illustration and graphic design
