Role Overview
Were on the lookout for a detail-oriented and experienced Temporary Finance Officer to support our finance operations across our brands. In this contract role, you will provide critical support to our CFO and broader Finance team, ensuring timely and accurate processing of financial tasks, including billing, payroll, reconciliations, and reporting. Youll be instrumental in keeping our financial operations running smoothly during this transitional period.
Key Responsibilities
Debtors & Billing:
Prepare and submit client invoices based on contracts and onboarding inputs.
Monitor collections and follow up on outstanding accounts.
Load and maintain ACH/debit orders and credit card payments.
Support internal teams with up-to-date billing reports and adjustments.
Compile weekly and monthly cash flow status and debtors aging reports.
Payroll:
Maintain payroll data for both employees and contractors.
Ensure accurate capture of changes in pay, benefits, terminations, and PTO usage.
Prepare and submit payroll summaries and reimbursement schedules for approval.
Assist with year-end tax submissions (e.g. W2s, 1099s for US-based employees).
Reconcile payroll records with general ledger and ensure vendor accuracy.
Banking & Payables:
Process day-to-day financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, credit card transactions, and transfers.
Reconcile bank and credit card accounts and post all transactions to the general ledger.
Assist senior finance staff with financial projects and initiatives.
Maintain accurate expense records and support payment approval processes.
Support weekly cash flow forecasting and reporting.
GL Reconciliations & Reporting:
Prepare and submit general ledger files and monthly change reports.
Prepare debtors aging & creditors aging for reporting and review.
Assist in intercompany transaction reviews and reconciliation.
Support external and internal audit requests.
Assist in preparing internal finance packs, including data, commentary, and analysis.
Key Requirements
QuickBooks Online (QBO) Expertise:
Familiarity with QBO platform features, settings, and best practices.
Demonstrated experience in handling GL migrations between two accounting systems.
Ability to diagnose and correct account setups, misallocations, and inconsistencies in QBO.
Proficiency in creating, executing, and documenting financial processes, particularly reconciliations.
Financial Expertise:
Strong understanding of accrual-based accounting, compliance, and reporting standards.
Ability to identify and resolve inconsistencies in financial data.
Attention to detail with a keen eye for ensuring data integrity.
Communication & Documentation:
Clear communicator who can create and deliver documentation and walk-throughs for effective handoffs.
Strong ability to collaborate remotely with internal teams and provide timely, clear reporting.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelors degree (NQF level 7) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (e.g., BCom, BA, BSc).
Up to 8 years of experience in finance roles with a strong background in accounting systems, particularly QBO.
Strong organizational, administrative, and multitasking skills.
Ability to meet tight deadlines and perform under pressure.
