Job Summary: 

Blavity Inc. is looking for a Social Media Coordinator to develop and post engaging content that promotes and drives ticket sales to Blavity events. This position is a (W2) Contractor responsible for ideating, creating, and editing compelling posts while working closely with our event marketing and social teams to ensure consistent messaging. You'll manage content calendars aligned with event schedules and respond to audience engagement to build community. The ideal candidate will stay current on social media trends and platform best practices while skillfully repurposing event assets into various content formats to maximize reach and conversions.

This role will report directly to the Director of Content Programming. 

Contractors will be responsible for providing their own equipment, including but not limited to laptop computers, cell phones, or any other electronic equipment required to perform their role.

Responsibilities:

  • Ideate and execute marketing campaigns that promote upcoming events across Blavity Inc. brands.
  • Create compelling social media content to drive ticket sales across multiple platforms
  • Edit and optimize posts for maximum engagement and conversion
  • Collaborate closely with event marketing and social teams to ensure consistent messaging
  • Identify and capitalize on trending topics and hashtags relevant to events
  • Support Develop content calendars aligned with event schedules and promotional timelines
  • Respond to social media messages, inquiries, and comments from our engaged audience around events
  • Repurpose event assets into various content formats for different social channels
  • Stay updated on platform algorithm changes and best practices for event promotion

Qualifications: 

  • Education: B.A. in Journalism or related field
  • Required Experience
    • 1-2+ yrs of content creation production experience
  • Preferred Experience:
    • Strong knowledge of design elements and principles — You understand the systems of graphic design in order to create work that is both aesthetically pleasing and effective.
    • 1-2+ yrs of content development for Gen-Z and Millennial demographics 
  • Technologies: Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Canva, Asana, and/or comparable project management suite
  • Additional Qualifications:
    • Independent, entrepreneurial self-starter who is comfortable taking on a high level of responsibility
    • A strong interest in viral marketing and social media trends - Knowledge of, passion for, and experience with social-media platforms, both established and emerging including but not limited to TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
    • A demonstrated ability to write engaging social-media copy across a range of topics, and for a variety of audiences.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects at once and work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Experience with analytics and listening tools.
    • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate project needs and timelines clearly and effectively.
    • High-energy, company-first, positive attitude; must be motivated to work hard in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent communication and analytical skills; outgoing and sociable; willing to wear multiple hats 
    • Naturally detail-oriented, with an obsessive need to document and communicate findings
    • A healthy appreciation of GIFs and Black culture

Details: 

  • This is a fully remote role, U.S.- based role. Occasional travel may be required. 
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Candidates must be available to work in alignment with the Eastern Time Zones (75%) and Pacific Time Zone (25%). 
  • This a contract position with an hourly rate of $25 - $30 per hour, depending on experience
