You. Better. With Alan.

Alan's vision is to make prevention the new norm of care for all. Our mission is to help people live in good health to 100 while helping employers feel proud, turning health benefits from a cost centre into their most valuable investment.

We're building a vertically integrated health partner that seamlessly unites insurance and smart healthcare delivery into one system.

By connecting all aspects of care - private, public, and direct to consumer - we create the most member-centric healthcare experience. Through deep engagement, we empower everyone to overcome day-to-day health obstacles and live healthier lives.

We partner with 32,000+ companies of all sizes, serving more than 700K members, and have reached €500M+ in ARR.

Our team of 600 people (still growing) operates across France 🇫🇷, Spain 🇪🇸, Belgium 🇧🇪, and Canada 🇨🇦.

🤘 How we do it ?

People joining Alan are often surprised and delighted by our innovative working method. We have a set of cultural values that guide our approach to work, such as:

  1. Mission is the Boss: We have a mission-first focus with long-term thinking, where all employees act as owners seeking the company's success above all else.

  2. Member & Customer-led: We are obsessively focused on solving customer problems and creating delightful experiences while building trust.

  3. Excellence like Athletes: We maintain high standards and talent density, using the Keeper Test to ensure exceptional performance.

  4. Enlightened Despots: We combine distributed ownership with accountability, empowering decision-makers while maintaining responsibility.

  5. Radically Transparent: We make information accessible and written-first, promoting async communication while protecting sensitive data.

  6. Kind, Methodic Optimists: We collaborate genuinely without ego, support teammates, and maintain positive intent while assuming the best.

  7. Empathetic Challengers: We give direct feedback with empathy, praise strengths, and focus on growth through candid communication.

  8. Bold & Creative Contrarians: We think differently to achieve greatness, challenge expertise with first principles, and embrace calculated risks.

  9. Disciplined Executors: We focus on making good decisions quickly, maintain accountability, and break down problems into manageable pieces.

  10. Fight for Simplicity: We eliminate unnecessary processes, stay concise and articulate, and maintain smart frugality while solving problems pragmatically.

📚About the role

We're looking for an Insurance Legal Counsel to join Alan's Corporate Unit and help us reinvent health insurance through the lens of simplicity, transparency, and member-first innovation.

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape how regulatory excellence can become a competitive advantage in the health insurance space. At Alan, compliance and legal work is about finding innovative ways to say "yes" while ensuring the highest standards of insurance and regulatory excellence.

🦸Key missions

Here are some of the ways in which you would contribute as Compliance & Insurance Legal Counsel:

Member protection & product excellence
  • Enhance our insurance offerings through expert legal insurance and compliance contributions that protect customer interests

  • Challenge traditional market practices to find optimal ways to meet regulatory requirements while improving the member experience

  • Design and implement regulatory obligations (duty of advice, transparency, conflict management) directly into Alan's tools and processes

  • Implement effective internal controls and reporting systems to mitigate operational risks

Business partnerships & growth
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to protect Alan's competitive edge by defining strategic positions on key contractual terms

  • Provide practical regulatory guidance that empowers teams to make autonomous, compliant decisions

  • Contribute to strategic client discussions where regulatory expertise adds significant value

Regulatory strategy & innovation
  • Drive the implementation of innovative compliance solutions across European markets, transforming complex regulations into simple, practical frameworks

  • Develop strategies to influence regulatory evolution and maintain productive relationships with regulators

  • Contribute to groundbreaking initiatives with high regulatory stakes in insurance and adjacent spaces (health, labor law, payments)

  • Identify strategic risks and report on compliance obligations to Alan's board with clarity and foresight

👋 Profile

Skills

The Insurance Legal role requires specific expertise in key areas:

  • Preferably 2-5 years of experience in insurance law or and social protection law, compliance or regulatory affairs

  • Thorough understanding of insurance regulatory frameworks, including ACPR guidelines, insurance distribution rules, and legal regulations applicable to insurance contracts

  • Experience developing and deploying operational compliance programs

  • Fluent in English and French (written and spoken)

You'll thrive in this role if:

  • You see regulatory requirements as opportunities to innovate, not just boxes to check

  • You have the ability to zoom out for strategic goals while diving deep into operational details

  • You're energized by the challenge of building something new rather than following established playbooks

  • You're naturally curious about technology and excited about automating processes

  • You can balance pragmatism with excellence, knowing when to be scrappy and when to be thorough

Relevant background

Any of these backgrounds could set you up for success:

  • Experience in an insurance company’s compliance or legal departments

  • Background in regulatory consulting focused on insurance

  • Experience at regulatory authorities (ACPR, EIOPA) would be a plus

For this opportunity, we are aiming to hire within the B-D level range.

But above all, we are looking for high potential and curiosity: make sure to show us this when you apply! Everything else is a bonus.

If you're excited about this opportunity but don't check every box, we'd love to hear from you. Everyone, no matter how underrepresented, should feel free to apply as it can only bring learnings or success.

If you identify yourself as a woman: Did you know that research shows women often apply only when meeting 100% of requirements?

Remember, this is just a guide, not a checklist.

We'll be thrilled to receive your application!
