Job Description:

The Consultant will work on project teams implementing Vertex’s Cloud and On-Premise products with host applications such as Workday, NetSuite, Coupa, SAP Ariba, and other strategic partner applications, and the implementation of Vertex’s tax technology solutions. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with experienced Senior Consultants on implementation projects while executing on the client’s statement of work (SOW).
  • Assists with all phases of Vertex projects, including review and analysis of client requirements, solution design and build, testing, and providing client support as needed.
  • An individual contributor who works on problems of limited to moderate scope.
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. 
  • Will initially depend on others for instruction, guidance, and direction, and/or has a specified work structure. 
  • As experience grows, exercises independence and judgment in the completion of familiar tasks and seeks guidance when needed.
  • May introduce new approaches within the area of expertise.
  • Builds stable working relationships within the workgroup as well as with internal and/or external customers.
  • Lead or participate in other projects or duties as assigned.
  • Travel approximately 10-50 %.
  • May work remotely occasionally.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Familiar with software and software implementation.
  • Familiar with industry terminology such as Cloud Computing, SaaS, Implementation and so on. 
  • Ability to demonstrate and possess analytical, presentation, troubleshooting, and design skills. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Experience with MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to maintain expected attendance at work and take accountability, and manage time in person, at client locations, and remotely.
  • Willingness to work overtime, holidays, and weekends based on business needs.

EDUCATION and TRAINING:

  • Recent graduate of an accredited university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Computer Science, or related discipline.
  • 1+ years of relevant experience preferred, but not required
  • Open to early-career candidates, including recent graduates (Some experience (internships, coursework, or volunteer work) is a plus
  • Entry-level role with training provided
