As a Field Engineer at Wilbert Funeral Services, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and compliance of Precast Concrete products manufactured by the company's Licensee network. Your primary responsibilities will include advising Precast Concrete producers, promoting proper manufacturing and service techniques, sharing best practices, and addressing safety concerns. You will travel regularly to conduct plant inspections, provide training, and offer guidance to ensure the highest standards are met.

Description

As a Field Engineer at Wilbert Funeral Services, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and compliance of Precast Concrete products manufactured by the company's Licensee network. Your primary responsibilities will include advising Precast Concrete producers, promoting proper manufacturing and service techniques, sharing best practices, and addressing safety concerns. You will travel regularly to conduct plant inspections, provide training, and offer guidance to ensure the highest standards are met.

Key Job Functions:

  • Quality Management: Assist with the development of a robust Quality Management System to include: audits, manage non-conformities, and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Drive the development and implementation of continuous improvement strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall operational performance.
  • Lean Methodology Leadership: Utilize lean methodologies to identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Training and Development: Provide guidance on continuous improvement and quality methodologies.
  • Technical Expertise: Learn and understand the company's manufacturing and service specifications to advise Licensees on correct procedures as needed.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Share innovative ideas and best practices among the Wilbert Licensee network to foster continuous improvement.
  • Safety Advocacy: Identify and share safety concerns and suggestions as necessary to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Documentation: Document each visit comprehensively by completing electronic Plant Production Reviews and Cemetery Service Reviews, including the submission of digital or print photos to support the evaluation.
  • Reporting: Submit all documentation and pertinent information electronically to the Field Services Manager in a timely manner.

A Typical Plant Inspection:

  • Conduct a Plant Production Review using the latest template provided by WFSI.
  • If available, conduct a Cemetery Service Review at each Licensee location to evaluate setup and services.
  • Prepare electronic reports, including improvement recommendations.
  • Review findings and recommendations with plant management and personnel.
  • Collaborate with plant management on further improvement steps and service enhancement.

Special Projects

  • Field Engineer will use their knowledge of Lean and Continuous Improvement to perform special projects with our network of producers. These special projects will require additional frequent visits to see the project complete, as well as to follow up with the operation to ensure its success.

Travel Schedule:

  • This role requires weekly travel for plant inspections, follow-up work, and training. The travel schedule typically follows a three-day format:
  • Day 1: Travel to the plant and potentially perform a CSR inspection.
  • Day 2: Perform the Plant Production Review, provide training, and take digital pictures.
  • Day 3: If a CSR inspection was not possible on Day 1, perform at least one CSR Inspection. If you are travelling to another location, do so on Day 3.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Document all follow-up visits and non-standard visits with a written summary to the Field Service Manager.
  • Post-production and CSR Cemetery Review reports electronically on a weekly basis.
  • Manage scheduling, organization, and files for assigned locations for audits and reviews.
  • Develop specialized customer training programs for new areas or topics.
  • Promote and train Wilbert-supplied products for use in manufacturing and service-related topics.
  • Identify trends and patterns related to product/service concerns and offer innovative improvement recommendations.
  • Display proficient computer skills in using essential software such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and the Internet.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in manufacturing operations, with a focus on quality and continuous improvement. Preference for experience in Precast Concrete.
  • Prior experience in developing a QMS / ISO quality system highly desirable.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with peers and provide training.
  • Detail-oriented with full body movement capabilities, use of all senses, and able to lift a minimum of 80 lbs.

Desired Skills (not required but preferred):

  • Six Sigma certification
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing Principles.
  • Precast Concrete Industry Certifications.

Pay Range:

88,000.00 - 132,000.00
