Position: Remote Site and Data Center Engineer

Location: Bangalore

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Remote Site and Data Center Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing remote site and data center solutions, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support our organization’s infrastructure needs while leading architectural initiatives that align with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Architecture Design:

  • Design and architect scalable, high-availability infrastructure solutions for remote sites and data centers.
  • Develop comprehensive architectural documentation, including high-level designs, detailed specifications, and operational procedures.

Implementation and Configuration:

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain data center equipment, including servers, networking devices, storage systems, and virtualization technologies.
  • Implement best practices for remote site infrastructure, including network connectivity, security measures, and disaster recovery solutions.

Performance Monitoring and Optimization:

  • Monitor the performance of remote sites and data center systems, utilizing tools to analyze resource utilization and identify bottlenecks.
  • Optimize configurations and processes to enhance system efficiency, availability, and performance.

Security and Compliance:

  • Implement security best practices for remote sites and data center environments, including physical security, access controls, and data protection measures.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, conducting regular assessments and audits.

Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity:

  • Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans for remote sites and data centers.
  • Conduct regular testing of recovery plans to ensure effectiveness and readiness.

Troubleshooting and Support:

  • Provide expert-level support for remote site and data center infrastructure, troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address complex technical challenges and improve overall system reliability.

Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Share knowledge and best practices with team members, providing training and mentorship as needed.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay current with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in data center management and remote site infrastructure.
  • Evaluate new tools and technologies to enhance performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience in data center engineering, remote site management, or IT infrastructure roles.
    • Proven experience with data center technologies, including servers, storage solutions, networking, and virtualization (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, VPNs, firewalls) and remote connectivity solutions.
    • Experience with monitoring and management tools (e.g., Nagios, SolarWinds, vRealize Operations).
    • Familiarity with cloud technologies and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Certifications:
    • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, VMware VCP, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent are highly desirable.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with backup and recovery solutions and strategies.
  • Knowledge of ITIL best practices and experience in change management processes.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
